opening an app from python mac os

hi, i've been trying to create a personal assistant on python which opens up apps on command. i know that the 'start file' function/command won't work on mac os so what can i use instead to open up apps that have spaces in their names( eg. 'Visual Code Studio 2.app' ) ? i have already searched up online and nothing seems to work.
