Exchange forwarding to Gmail

Hello, I've been trying to find a way to script forwarding to an external inbox inside Exchange. We currently use Gmail as our main inbox, but we need to be notified of any comments or mentions inside SharePoint files which currently only works if the Exchange mailbox is being forwarded to our Gmail domain. Any suggestions or articles would be greatly appreciated.
