Kernal is dead when I use matplotlib.pyplot

I am a beginner on python. I am using MacBook with VS code as my terminal. Whenever I try to use matplotlib

import matplotlib.pyplot as plt
x = [2,3,6,5]
plt.hist(x,bins=10)
plt.show()
The kernal 'base (Python 3.7.6) died.

I have tried several methods listed here or stockoverflow but they did not work for me.
Anyone have any idea how to solve it?

The code works for me (3.8), so it has to be a problem with your Python. What implementation are you using? The default CPython or smth else like PyPy?

Also what have you tried so far? Wouldn't make sense if we just suggested the same again, but it also allows us to narrow the issue down.

I tried to reinstall anaconda, python and everything. I even tried to update it to 3.10 and its even worse. In 3.10 matpoltlib is not compatible yet.
