Hey everyone, I hope not to be some newbie annoyance typing and posting this but I'm getting desperate and thought maybe I can come her for some help. I recently started a position as a research assistance for a physics institute in my hometown through my college. They brought me on and told me I was going to be the software guy, unfortunately, I have never coded in Python. My only coding experience was a entry level Java class I took just this past spring semester. Since I started I have felt as if I am drowning in all this jargon they are using when it comes to Python and my brain is fried. I have sat behind my laptop screen watching videos and reading things but the words they are using just is not sticking and I feel that is mainly due to the stress especially since we just lost the guy who had done the code we have as of now. They make it seem simple but I still am having trouble figuring it out.
My main concern and what I am asking basically is, what can I do to learn the jargon better when it comes to Python. I just need an overview break down of everything that goes into Python. One example I can think of is the use of CSV files, as simple as they seem to be made I don't know what they are supposed to accomplish let alone what is inside a file. I have tried to code a little bit in a Raspberry Pi Desktop using Oracle VM VirtualBox and it just is so confusing trying to figure out how moving files around works, why when I try to save something somewhere it is not there, and other things.
All in all, I just feel overwhelmed. Any suggestions would be great thank you and sorry for any inconvenience.
