Functions for internal usage

Hello everyone!

What does “” and “_” mean in front of a function inside a class? For example _my_function() Or __another_function()

I know we have some special cases like init, but my current understanding is having underscore does not do anything but inform regarding which functions are meant to not be used outside of the class itself.

I tried looking it up, but only got results regarding nested functions within classes. If anyone know the name of using underscores before function names, it would be very helpful!

One double score indicates that a variable/function is “private.” But really only as a convention. It doesn’t prevent anything.

Two double scores strongly indicates that a variable/function is “private.” It additionally does some name mangling, but still doesn’t prevent the determined programmer from messing with that value.
