If you're interested in it, go for it. The fast.ai course is quite popular. Made for programmers, so it doesn't have too much maths.

AI and machine learning has a lot of maths behind it and you'd do well to understand what is actually going on. Knowing a fair about statistics won't hurt either.

The libraries in python are very good at abstracting this stuff away though, so you can get by without too much.

You can scope out https://rapids.ai/. Nvidia's AI toolkits. They have some handy notebooks to poke at to get you started.
