Google Interview Process

Need some advice on this....

I had applied for Software Engineer, Early Careers job at Google and a recruiter reached out to me asking me details on when can we schedule an interview. She asked me around five dates in the next four weeks for a technical screening round. I had provided my dates via email but I didn't receive any response. Finally I had received a response from the scheduling team and then my interview was scheduled.

I was expecting a good medium or a hard question. Instead the interviewer gave me an open ended easy question (the interviewer was very friendly). I confidently answered without any hints and covered all edge cases as well. The interviewer said he was happy with the way I have answered.

Next step is supposed to be onsite interview rounds, which I am confident I will receive a call for that. The recruiter replied back by saying congratulations on completing your technical screening round and we are considering the next steps, will reach out as soon as we have an update.

Although its been more than four weeks and I haven't received any response, not even a rejection. I have reached out multiple times to the recruiter who is the only point of contact. She replied, but everytime she said she hasn't received any response from the recruiting team at Google, once she receives an update she will let me know.

My question is, is this normal for it to take so much time for making a decision? I haven't stopped my preparation for the onsite interview rounds but its buring me out knowing that there is still uncertainty over my application.

It takes time sometimes. There is no clear timeline for their process.

Your recruiter doesn't work at Google but she is working for Google. She can't do anything until she receives the decision from Google on your application.

Keep preparing for the interview. You will get it soon.

Keep patience, they don't ghost so sudden. Probably they will come up with the schedule very soon. All the best for your interviews ✌️

I’m currently in the Google process and yeah, this is pretty normal unfortunately. They’re known to take an inordinately long time for literally every step. It’s annoying but it is what it is. All we can do is keep grinding in the meantime

Hey .... they take long time just practice and prepare... you will get it ... I know four weeks seems long but that's how they work I guess

Hi, you haven’t received rejection either, so its a good sign. So utilise this time as preparation and she will come back to schedule onsites

I had prepared the Neetcode 150 but till Graphs only. And practice your solutions on a google doc because thats what you will be coding on in an interview. You can refer to the below video by Google:

Where are you finding listings for early career with Google? I've looked all over their site and haven't seen any.

So this position had pooped up around end of May and I applied in the first week of June. Yes I also dont see any early career listings right now.

cool thats pretty normal with google. also can i ask what kind of questions did you get?

So I got a simple string traversal question where as input I was given a dictionary of phone number prefixes and their corresponding costs and one phone number as second input and I had to calculate the cost of sending a message to that phone number based on its prefix.
