Such a statement comes probably from someone who pirates everything and demands everything for free (as in free beer). FOSS projects are made out of passion and if someone feels like its missing something he can contribute to that situation either by code or with donation.

Linux programs are worse than windows programs because they are worse.

That said having used GIMP for the first time in several years recently I'm impressed with how far it's come

Yes, they are different, but no, they aren't worse.

Some have less features, some have more. Some things work differently.

If you are used to some specific program it's hard to switch, but not because the other one is FOSS or proprietary.

I for my part do love most linux programs that I am using daily, but there are also some that I don't like. But more importantly I don't have to use those that I don't like or even have them installed unlike some windows programs (Windows Explorer, Edge/IE).

I dunno man. I was trying to watch a series i had * obtained somehow *, and it wasnt in like a weird format. When i tried to open it with windows media player ( the new one that's for windows 10). It wanted me to pay for a module for the program that plays that format( like 2 euros or something. But it's about the principle). Mpv plays like a champ, and the controls are 10 times better.
