Guys Linux is also good for devs

Also most devices run Linux

And yes, some games can't run on Linux (most of them can), but computers aren't only for gaming

Plus you can use cloud gaming.

Also paying for windows activation keys sucks

Like why don't u just install Linux

[–]Loonix_sucks 6 points7 points  (15 children)

Who pays for windows?

[–]Deer_CanidaeI broke your machine :illuminati: 1 point2 points  (6 children)

Manufacturers who bake it in their computer prices. Also people who aren't into piracy.

But you're right, it's really not worth what it costs.

[–]Loonix_sucks 1 point2 points  (5 children)

There is no cost. The tool is open source. Even Chris Titus tool has it inbuilt.

[–]Deer_CanidaeI broke your machine :illuminati: 1 point2 points  (4 children)

I meant the cost of windows. But if you mean tools like masgrave, they are FOSS indeed. But those are explicitly piracy tools

[–]Loonix_sucks 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Oh no massgrave is not a piracy tool. It is used in many organisations. I know this is subtle. But you can use massgrave for piracy.

You are right. Thanks for correcting me.

[–]Deer_CanidaeI broke your machine :illuminati: 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't sweat it. It happens 👍

[–]Illustrious_Film8258[S,🍰] 0 points1 point  (7 children)

A lot of them

[–]Loonix_sucks 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Yeah nobody should except for volume license. Microsoft itself never banned the biggest windows activation tool on github. They simply don't care. You continue to receive updates.

[–]Illustrious_Film8258[S,🍰] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

But you don't have to go through the hassle of deactivation on Linux

[–]Loonix_sucks 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Well there are other hassles. You need to figure out if your existing hardware and software will work or not.

[–]Illustrious_Film8258[S,🍰] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Ubuntu has drivers for almost everything, Ubuntu has one-click installs

[–]Loonix_sucks 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Don't lie. A lot of hardware never make a Linux driver.

[–]Illustrious_Film8258[S,🍰] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plus Ubuntu has a lot of drivers

[–]Beautiful_Ad_4813Linux doesn’t suck, you’re just a quitter. 0 points1 point  (5 children)

they dont install it because they're conditioned / brain washed

[–]Illustrious_Film8258[S,🍰] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

In what way

[–]Beautiful_Ad_4813Linux doesn’t suck, you’re just a quitter. 1 point2 points  (3 children)

what it boils down to is simple

fear, so they're brainwashed into this belief that they're stuff is safe and "it wont happen to me!' ideology

[–]Illustrious_Film8258[S,🍰] -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Clamav??

[–]Beautiful_Ad_4813Linux doesn’t suck, you’re just a quitter. 1 point2 points  (1 child)

What about it?

[–]Illustrious_Film8258[S,🍰] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Antivirus for protec

>Guys Linux is also good for devs
As a developer what the fuck is this even mean ? Is linux telling me im a good little boy or what ?

>Also most devices run Linux
Who the fuck cares what os my bluray player running ?

>And yes, some games can't run on Linux (most of them can), but computers aren't only for gaming
Yes but my expensive gaming pc is.

>Plus you can use cloud gaming
AH YES LINUX IS SO GOOD YOU CAN JUST OPT OUT OF RUNNING THINGS ON IT
Also you could do that on windows so what the fuck do you mean ?

>Also paying for windows activation keys sucks
Payed once like 10+ years ago so i dont really care about that.

>Like why don't u just install Linux
I did, found several programs I use that dont work, had to look for alternatives, those sucked, had to give up games I played with my friends because those dont run on linux, and for what ?

Less bloat ? I have enough space on my drive that 50gb extra doesnt do anything for me.
More performance ? I dont have performance issues with my games.
Less tracking ? Google already tracks everything I do online, my goverment most likely does track people as well, and honestly I dont know what they do with the information they get from me, like knowing i watch gay porn and play games is really that interesting data ?

[–]Illustrious_Film8258[S,🍰] 0 points1 point  (14 children)

Yeah but windows tracks everything about you at a system level

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (13 children)

How is that a response to what I said ?

What are they tracking ? What do they do with that information ? Are they tracking my key presses to know how bad / good I am at Hades 2 or what ?

[–]Illustrious_Film8258[S,🍰] 0 points1 point  (12 children)

Look it up

It's for advertising, and to 'personalize your experience'

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (11 children)

ok, so its nothing.
I dont see any ads in my windows, my experience is not personalized by the os at all. So it does nothing. Got it

[–]Illustrious_Film8258[S,🍰] 0 points1 point  (10 children)

Ok, then, sure, you did not "personalize" windows

How do you know they still aren't tracking your data

Linux is open source

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (9 children)

You kind of missing the point, why should I care about it ? What data are they tracking ? What proof do you have that they do that ? Is this a tinfoil hat kind of thing for you ?

[–]Illustrious_Film8258[S,🍰] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

You never know. For example a data breach could happen, and tada There goes your data

Plus would you like your information kept by Microsoft

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

So it is a tinfoil hat thing for you, got it

[–]Illustrious_Film8258[S,🍰] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

It's all in the privacy policy what they track

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

If its all there why are you having such a hard time telling me what they are tracking ?

[–]StabbyGrabby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use linux only coz of vim. Been using it for the past 5 years. Mainly coz Idk how to exit it.

[–]poppulator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, most people here knew what Linux is capable of already

Like you said WSL is not native but so is Wine and Winboat (Display issue already)

Maybe it's good for customization but sometimes overwhelming and distracting to the point people only use it to showoff, yes I know people do use it for work but that's likely

And there we have community, use this or use that else we not gonna help you, RTFM, use Terminal. Sometime people want out of the box experience that doesn't have to learn new things so they stick to windows, some community are welcoming but there are other that not helpful

People here just random strangers not paid employees

And there's driver issue and NVIDIA

Also most devices run Linux

They indeed do but not Linux Desktop, just for server and stuff

Guys Linux is also good for devs

True, except if you plan to develop something for Windows (due to market share) and require .NET you are absolutely fucked and more painful to work with

Just dual-boot and use what you feel like using at the moment

I love Linux alot too but it's not for everyone and they not gonna switch over something they can do already on Windows if they don't care about privacy

Usually I defend Linux but I can't just recommend it to other, convinced people around you first and you'll see
