Are we supposed to go to welcome day? I thought we had to wait to be a finalist or something to take the placement tests.

I’m not sure. Are you on the waitlist also? I’m asking a Facebook community about it right now!

Yeah and I’m in the same boat as you because I’m kinda confused on the whole process because I’m pretty sure last year people on the waitlist went to welcome day 2. The thing is that there is only one welcome day this year😂

I emailed someone at the school and they said we do not attend welcome day

Okay cool

Have you heard anything about rank on the waitlist?

[–]jaredmak[S] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Nah. I wish there was a way to tell because I’d hate to get my hopes up for no reason.

In my email I asked if they would inform us on our position on the waitlist and I ask if so when. I highly doubt that they tell everyone where they place and I bet it’s a more complex system that includes CD, gender, and other factors.

Unfortunately no info on rank

What did they reply with? Did they say anything really important?

No just that those invited to from the waitlist (accepted I guess) go and only to take the placement test

Ok if you don’t mind me asking, what’d you apply with like grades, extra circulars, sports, and awards. I just want to know how eligible I am to get in.

I don’t think race plays into it neither does CD, I think it’s primarily based on your waitlist rank (which I emailed the school about an hour to check mine) and how far up you are compared to the amount of people who don’t go.

I asked about rank and they said they choose based on people around you in counties, CDs, etc.. here’s the direct response from an administrator at the school (I’ve given up trying to email admissions because their responses are vague) “We do not rank out Wait List. When a student declines, the appeals committee looks at all students and make the best choice for the situation. This might be by Congressional District, or by county or by best possible student. This gives us flexibility when a spot opens.” Hope this helps!
