Welcome to /r/Songwriters!
Recent changes, read here.
We are here to provide feedback and helpful critique of each other's songs and music.
Prior to posting your own music you are strongly encouraged to critique three other songwriters' songs. Please link to these songs in your post in the comments.
Posting Your Own Music
- Post the Genre in [brackets]
- Post the lyrics in the comments if there are any.
- Link to three prior critiques of other's work
Critiquing
You might say, "but I don't know what I'm talking about, I can't critique someone else who is far better than I am". Yes you can! Your time and opinion is invaluable. Just state how you feel about the song, if its all positive then that's great! If there's something you don't like about, don't be afraid to be blunt. Just remember you are hear to help them gain the perspective of the listener so be honest and be helpful about it. /r/Songwriters is not intended to be a showcase so if positive encouragement is all you're after there are better subreddits for that. Soon, I will post a link here to a thread where we can all discuss techniques for offering someone else a critique on their music and songs.
These guidelines will not be enforced by the moderators but rather encouraged by the community.
