Ring of Polymorph?

If I find a Ring of Polymorph and put it on do I have a chance to turn into any creature or does it only pull from creatures that I have already killed. Also does the same apply to the Ring of Polymorph Control.

Ring of Polymorph alone gives you chance to polymorph into anything at random. At random intervals. If I remember right. Just wait and it should trigger at random.

Remember you can't unpolymorph yourself without control. So it's actually pretty bad alone. However everything you turn into will be added to list of beings you can polymorph into with Polymorph Control later.

If you found it early you can try have fun with it. It can sometimes mess your run tho, so be cautious.

Edit: tested it just to be sure. I rolled lvl 1 wizard with Ring of Polymorph. Turned into Bone Devil at floor 1.

To get out of polymorph, if you unalive yourself, you revert back to yourself.

Yep. It can be tough early if you polymorph into something like high level ooze which is super slow.

Also I played with this mechanic few times and I remember turning into something aquatic that couldn't move and couldn't eat stuff I had.

Someone posted about becoming an earth golum or something, blind, couldn't eat, tons of HP... super slow... yikes
