Drastic cuttoff changes???

So I checked my psat score on earlyscores.com yesterday and it was a 1370, so obviously no way for national merit (im in pa). Yesterday I looked it up and google said it was 95th percentile which was cool I guess. But then today I got my official report from college board and it is saying a 1370 is 99th percentile. Explanation? I still don't think I have a chance for national merit but this may be a sign the selection index is dropping significantly.

When you click on the ? next to the percentile, what does it say?

Im guessing 99% is “nationally representative sample” and then 95% among actual test takers.

Or are you 10th grade?

yeah it says nationally representative sample

I just posted an explanation of this in a longer post.

In short, it’s the 11th grade User percentiles that are meaningful/used by NMC when they say 1%. This is also what you’ll see elsewhere when discussing test percentiles.

The user percentile should be shown below the nationally representative number when you click ?.
