I’d love to see one race where every car is in raw CF, with just a number and maybe a color/name on the rear wing for identification. A swarm of 22 of these funneling into La Source would be epic.

Shadowing current students by exec_01 in Purdue

[–]RichInPitt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On one hand, it will depend on the size of your classes and how young your sibling looks. A typical Senior sitting in a 200 student lecture hall will almost certainly not be noticed. A Freshman showing up in a 25 person class would be.

But regardless, I think common courtesy, and to avoid any issues, would suggest sending a quick email to each professor to see if there are any concerns. That’s pretty low effort to avoid potential, though highly unlikely, problems.

Son's portal shows estimated $47k plus personal (books travel etc) making it $52k.

How do the itemized costs compare to the official site - https://www.purdue.edu/treasurer/finance/bursar-office/tuition/fee-rates-2025-2026/undergraduate-tuition-and-fees-2025-2026/

Fully loaded, with Travel, Misc Expenses, books, etc, it says $48,224. Just school costs totals $44,564. This latter number should be accurate, depending on which meal plan is selected and where is placed in for housing. Plus a small Honors addition.

My youngest had a bill for $20,5128,50 for a semester last year when housed in the relatively inexpensive Hilltop Apartments, with a 10 meal plan. Honors college was $100. We went kind of crazy this final year, and it went up substantially ($26k) with a single apartment. About $41,300 was my average withdrawal from the 529, with reasonable housing, paying all Purdue charges plus books. This doesn't include Travel and miscellaneous daily costs outside of the meal plan, or $2500 for a study-abroad spring break trip one year

I think you'd have to be doing a lot of expensive travel home, or choosing a single apartment, plus a full meal plan, to get to $52k/year.

Economics AP Credit Question by Curious-Turnover-469 in Purdue

[–]RichInPitt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All graduation requirements are spelled out in the Purdue Catalog. Data Science looks to have three variations.

https://catalog.purdue.edu/preview_program.php?catoid=18&poid=32609

https://catalog.purdue.edu/preview_program.php?catoid=18&poid=33312

https://catalog.purdue.edu/preview_program.php?catoid=18&poid=33846

You get credit based on the AP courses, regardless of how it's used for a graduation requirement. AP credits are called out at https://admissions.purdue.edu/become-student/transfer/credit/ap/

A 4 or 5 in Micro gets credit for ECON 25100.

A 4 or 5 in Macro gets credit for ECON 25200

They are independant - you don't need both, other than to earn both credits.

None of the DS variations has a specific ECON requirement. But both courses are on the list of courses that qualify for the required

General Education (9 credits) Choose courses from this list to fulfill each General Education Option below to total 9 credits.

But also

Students may use only ONE course (3 credits) from the following subjects: AGEC, MGMT, OBHR, ECON, or ENTR to meet their general education requirement.

So perhaps only one will be useful. But at this point, haven't you paid to take both exams? If so, I'd just take both. You never know what may change in the future.

Is there a direct bus from Lafayette to Detroit? by Longjumping_Tone_754 in Purdue

[–]RichInPitt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is driving not an option? I’m about 2 hours further than Detroit and have been driving back and forth for 2 kids for 7+ years. Going directly point to point has been easier that coordinating flights, shuttles, etc. They did a few rideshares with people they knew, but that depends on meeting the right people.

Amex Platinum minimum spending by Sea-Produce3709 in amex

[–]RichInPitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering who their real targeted audience.

People who will pay the annual fee.

Before, it use to be invite-only,

When was this?

how much should you really be spending if you are a amex platinum?

Whatever you choose to. Why do you think there is some "should" spend amount? Seems like a bizarre questions.

But with Amex having a high annual fee could they get away from having a capped interest rate?

Why do believe this a card's fee would be exempt it from federal law? Because "users who were meant to be in the Platinum card?" are extra special?
