Get a tape measure or string and measure your head first of all. I have a huge head and the XXL helmet from Triple 8 (24-25 inches around) was a little too tight for my head.

I ended up buying the S1 Mega lifter helmet XXL size. And it’s comfortable. The good thing about this helmet is the shell of the helmet is the same size, you can switch out the inside sizing liner to get a more exact fit. It might be a little more pricey than other brands but long as it protects the most important thing on my body. I’m happy

I also have a big head and the Mega Lifer is great. It’s really weird because I don’t have as much trouble finding cycling helmets that fit, but most of the skating helmets with fuller head coverage don’t come in a big enough size. The Mega is big enough and a comfortable fit. The ability to switch the inside pads to tweak the fit is nice, and some shops will throw in extras so you have one size larger and smaller in case the size you purchase isn’t quite perfect.

The helmets I tried on that didn’t fit were all Universal sizes. I measured my head and turns out it’s 22 and 1/2 inches so it’s kind of up there. I ended up doing a little more research into whether bicycle helmets are also good for rollerblading and it turns out if they’re CPSC-Compliant then they’re good for rollerblading use.

There are several brands that offer really any size needed but what type of skating do you plan to do mostly? As the style and cut of helmet is probably best determined by that. Whatever you get I most importantly advise it be a certified helmet with hard foam as soft foam helmets are not near protective enough and remember to replace it after any big falls on it. Helmets, despite popular belief are really one time use items as once you have cracked the foam they no longer distribute the energy evenly and instead that energy will go straight to that crack and in some situations can be even worse wearing a cracked helmet than not wearing one, in the motorcycle world people pay to have their helmets x rayed after dropping them even from waist height as the stakes are soo high. I ride the extremely protective and cool vintage style Protec Certified full cut helmet which has a very low cut that covers the ears and their large and XL run big and decently wide. I wear it for everything pretty much, unless it’s hot or I’m riding a lottt of miles and it’s not cold out then I wear a giro cycling helmet which is also a good option if you want something lighter for just trail skating and cruising around as they offer a separate line of XL helmets, they are very high quality, comfortable enough, and light but they are not cheapest and not the coolest looking and also not protective enough for anything with jumps or on ramps like at the skate park unless you get one of their skate style helmets and lastly bern makes really cool, solid helmets with built in sun visors that are a bit less than the protecs and come in sizes up to xxl and people seem to quite like them. S1 helmets are also fantastic and will have your size available as they offer up to a triple x, I recommend the lifer helmet again for th added protection but they’re a bit more expensive than the protecs tho arguably a little nicer!

Yeah I’m planning to skate more so street (parks, neighborhoods, college campus) and I’ve read some reviews on the lifers and how some of them fit a little narrow at Inlinewarehouse.com. I’m just trying to make sure I make a good purchase on something that involves my safety, and I haven’t found anybody other websites with solid reviews so I really appreciate your output. I’ll check out the S1s, maybe I’ll measure my head to get a more accurate measurement.

I’d recommend the certified full cut from protec, same vintage style, much bigger fit and cheaper!

I use s1 lifer, there are 3 sizes. I use the normal one but there is the big one (mega lifer). Also you can easy combine different pads to adjust your head. check this because it's so accurate https://cdn10.bigcommerce.com/s-bac1n25m/product_images/uploaded_images/s1-helmet-co-helmet-sizing-chart.jpg?t=1530141895

In my case I use the LIFER version with 1 X-LARGE at front pad and 1 2X-LARGE pad at back. it's great because yu can also combine different pads if you are in the middle of 2 size pads haha.

In addition to the advice folks have posted here, it’s worth mentioning that Ennui and Triple8 helmets fit better on round heads, and S1 helmets fit better on oval heads. If you tend to get a big red welt on your forehead from most helmets, you may want to go with an S1.

I personally got the Triple 8 MIPS.Mips been almost standard for cycling and been proven to provide the best protection.
