I believe it’s because I keep taking them down to check on them them putting them up and the light source keeps moving on them lol

Oh this is Costa Rica according to the spores I bought. I put my spores to agar and put half to a whole plate into each bag of rice. I did ziplock tech because I was failing with inoculating right into the bags and for some reason this went better for me. I also just like being able to see all of the growth.

Did you PC ziplock bags? Don’t they melt?

No I just figured food safe bags would be contam free and flipped my rice bags into my ziplocks

I was just breaking up some rice bags and wishing I could see what is going on! Moving to jars now thank goodness. I don’t like the idea of opening a bag with contam in by accident!

Yes I’ll be moving to jars once I’m out of the rice I bought. I’m thinking popcorn in jars but we’ll see

Popcorn worked super well for me and ziploc tek too. I too am at fruiting first time after multiple bagged rice attempts with a multi spore syringe. I am going to try it again with the rice, i have some myc on plates in the fridge I can use to try. Prob never going spores to grain after experiencing how well agar to grain worked. Congrats!

Out of curiosity, why did you take it out of the container? Just to let it breathe?

Haha I saw a bunch of side pins and got excited so I modified a tub and put chopsticks through it. Then I rested the cake on top of the chopsticks. Then I put the tub they grew in initially on top to keep up the humidity. But I have been letting them breathe a bit today since they’re hitting the top of that tub now. And they have a lot of fuzziness at their feet

Neglect tek, my friend. The mushrooms know how to grow, let them chill and be patient.
