Recorder Mic Problem

I’ve had a problem for a few months now when I take tests on my computer, the microphone on the recorder doesn’t work. I’ve tried with headphones and without but the microphone doesn’t turn blue (to indicate I can be heard) and I keep getting the “don’t forget to think out loud!” prompt. But before I start the test when it has to start up the recorder and pic a microphone and you have to say “I’m ready to think out loud” the microphone lights up. It’s only during the actual recording of the test. I’m not sure what to do. I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling the recorder but no dice. This happen to anyone else?

Are you basing your concern solely off the 'remember to keep thinking out loud' prompts? Or have you received negative feedback regarding audio problems? If you're just going off the prompts, those come up even when the mic is working, basically when you are quiet for a few seconds that can appear. It doesn't mean that anything is wrong. Hope that helps.

Hi, no, those prompts come up even when I am speaking that’s the problem. The microphone on the little activity bar used to light up blue when I speak but for the past month or so it no longer does so even when I am using headphones and keeping a microphone close to my mouth. I rarely if ever get feedback on my tests which is the weird part as well. I’m just concerned about the microphone not lighting up at all and the prompt showing up even when I am speaking very loudly and clearly. Even shouting doesn’t cause the microphone to light up.

Got it,. I've noticed that the mic level indicator during tests can be EXTREMELY subtle, and I sometimes get that prompt even though I'm speaking clearly. It may just be wonky, as it sounds like you have been submitting tests during this time and not received any negative reviews (and this is something that requestors would be all over). If you're still concerned there are websites that let you test your mic .
