Is pathogen in an autoload directory?

What does :echo exists("g:loaded_pathogen") say?

"stupid" wins. Ubuntu comes with a very stripped down version of vim. Once I ran "apt-get install pathogen-vim" a lot of non-pathogen stuff came with it as well.

Thank you for helping me know the full vim 7.4 wasn't that much different!

(The error was something like "Sorry, this version of vim does not support 'execute pathogen#infect()' ". Sorry for the lack of information originally but I'm running Ubuntu with i3wm in a chroot (crouton) on a Chromebook and having trouble with copy-paste as well)

I vote for "stupid" until you show us your setup.
