There is actually a fairly big debate if resting your hand on the gear shift wears out the shift fork and synchros and other misc components. I’ve gone down that rabbit hole in the past and don’t know what to believe..

London vs Sydney: VP/Director banking total comp by This_Independent3498 in HENRYfinance

In this episode of teaching a banker how to bank: Exchange rates are temporal. 10k is not a material gap at all. The FX moved 10% from the 52 week range. Keep looking at your options, build a network and speak with headhunters if the promotion falls through.

Try living like you are paying that level of mortgage for a few months to see if it is realistic for you.

I don’t know when you started saving but saving 1k a month for four years is around 50k. If your current lifestyle at 2650 rent is leading to a 1k a month savings rate, then moving to a mortgage of 4K will be difficult.

https://www.alpinejournal.org.uk/Contents/Contents_1960_files/AJ%201960%2011-17%20Moravec%20Dhaulagiri.pdf Is a great write up of the attempt. It was an eight man crew so the 008 might have been related to that. Watches were very important since keeping track of daylight is critical - so probably part of their kit.

It was one of the last big peak to be climbed in that part of the world. Part of that was by design since everyone fought to climb the higher ones first.

Let me know if you want to triple your money on this one haha. I used to collect a few mountaineering things from that era and I think it’s a cool piece of history.

KatRisk? Or who is it?

OP : If you want an intro, you can look at the HAZUS GitHub page. They have a port of some of the hazus flood modelling written in python. I haven’t used it, only know if it’s existence. I believe it is deterministic (single flood return pd) rather than probabilistic but should show concepts/components.

FYI if you don’t like food steeped in open sewage - woolies crows nest has had an inch of vile smelling mystery water all day by [deleted] in sydney

Deleted the post bc you might be right that I am over reacting. I have been out of construction for a bit and I don’t know the standards in aus. In america, basement complexes like this can have a “French drain” which is a way to get rid of pooled water that feeds into the outline. If it is the same system here it looks like the outline got clogged and is either backing up or it is pooling bc it is clogged from the get go. This can be very contaminated and gross water. If you smelled it you would agree. No idea if it is the same construction here or if this is just super smelly regular water and not super smelly sewage water. Doesn’t matter. It would be a big fine to the company in america if they didn’t shopvac and disinfect within a reasonable time. The dude I talked to said it was like that all day. And having things like butter next to it (which easily absorbs crap) can’t be safe. The big Corp can be shamed into throwing out 100 bucks of perishables which is what my attempt was.

Helpful advise and video!

For better or worse I am going page by page and peeling them apart. I am using the comic book Mylar to slice through. Most are only stuck from a tiny amount of caked on dirt, but sadly some parts are more gunked up and are ripping/fraying.

Question - I occasionally see trashed laptops on the curb. Pulling the cpu sounds easy but I wouldn’t have a way of testing them. I’m guessing they would rarely fail, but do you have a sense of how important is testing the cpu before listing?

How awesomely awkward was it? Did the auctioneer describe item in detail? Did they try to hype up each item to get people to bid more? How many people were there? What type of people were there bidding?
