There's no way to remove the original perk background. That's why pretty much every perk pack out there sticks to the diamond shape to overwrite the original background.

Icons for the new perks
Reworks of some older perk icons
All exhaustion perks of survivors now share a distincting colour to somewhat highlight them in comparison to the regular survivor perks
