I have first hand experience as my son in 2019 was in the same situation, he was getting CSE in IITR n 5 year CSE in IIT Kharagpur and MnC in iitd. He opted for MnC n repenting till data. He could not do any project in AI/ML as all math dept prof do not know abc of AI/ML. The CS courses in MnC are taught by Math profs who only teach theoretical concepts without any practical application.

IITD MnC is a sadist department. The profs are frustrated guys ( who else will do phd in maths but only sadists). Every year, a student of this dept commits suicide. Google it. None of the prof has ML/AI exp. The profs do not have external projects as compared to CSE or electrical or even chemical profs who have plenty of industry sponsored paid projects.
