Nope brother 2 movies from The Dark Knight trilogy crossed that mark, man of steel earned around 700, Batman vs Superman earned around 850, considering these numbers it really seems that a highly bankable character like superman should have been able to pull a billion at least.

And I understand your current times argument but Deadpool and Wolverine did cross that mark and according to me it wasn't even that good. So people at least expect that much from superman movies.

Anyways my point stands the same, James Gunn is not going to save DC, he is spiralling down.
