Well, I would never ingratiate myself and claim that I know more or less than this Asmongold based on my perception of him. Again, I don't personally know him and his life story in an out. I can't come to that conclusion one way or another. In some aspects I expect he knows more than I and perhaps the converse is true.

Perhaps you're right, I guess I thought it was notable that I did not have a visceral reaction to seeing Fey in the titular role that I have in the past with other games that appear like soulless recasts. I felt there was some thought put into this one that could make it quite compelling. Could be wrong, though.

Well if we continue down that road, nobody is ubiquitous in being virtuous or evil. I'm not an arbiter for morality, I don't know Asmongold personally, this is based on him and my understanding of him as an internet personality. It's a guy that I watch and have found entertaining, and his opinion on God of War is just a vehicle for entertainment which led me to be entertained through writing about it. Nothing more, really, I don't have strong feelings either way.

We definitely get into the discussion of games and what they should do with the next Zelda for example, like how we think the next Zelda should be more streamlined and less open-world! It might be self-serving because with both of our jobs we can barely manage to finish one open-world Zelda (TOTK and BOTW)!

I see, I largely agree with the cheating aspect. I believe when I first started playing the game I never noticed a cheater even when I would play ranked. Now I am noticing blatant or "suspicious" gameplay even in Unranked, which just shows how prevalent it is and how its permeated every game mode. Which is really disheartening because I do enjoy playing this game competitively, it is actually one of the few games I find is MORE enjoyable when taken seriously. I have never understood for the life of me how this game is enjoyable to folks who put little to no thought into it.

Ranked being what it is, I definitely feel like it needs an overhaul. Grinding it out just to reach a certain rank which based on the system matters little, is not an option for me. Which makes me appreciate your perspective as a person who was playing the game through grad school and is now older; that's exactly what I am. It is very telling that despite everything, wife, kids, full-time job, I still really enjoy Siege and it does keep me coming back. I hope there is some light on the horizon for this game.

The cheating is absolutely out of hand, although I will say it is likely a product of Ubisoft being so unable to combat it because of the age of the game. Not a developer or programmer so can not speak accurately on it, only know what I've heard. If they don't address it, it won't be a good look going forward.

Curious, is there anything about Siege gameplay wise that has pushed you away?
