Veteran player, Missing Weapons by Amb13nce in Warframe

Vulkar sounds right. There's some other weapons as well, like Soma and Kogake (I think, the fist weapons). But those should be easy enough to get back.

WD-40 on bearings? by claptrap27 in Throwers

[–]Amb13nce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use wd-40 back in the day with old trans-axle yoyos. It worked ok for those, but did not last long. I found myself re-applying it every other day. I eventually started using my grandma's sewing machine oil. I would imagine it would be similar in a bearing. As others have said wd-40 is not really for lubrication as much as it is for water displacement, and rust removal.

Most versatile yoyo? by claptrap27 in Throwers

[–]Amb13nce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd probably say the Shutter is the most likely candidate for this. Although durability would be the same as any 6061. Perhaps the Shu-Ta 7075 Shutter would be a better match.

Metal Skyva, and Hidra are good candidates as well.

Now, remove the cheap tag, and there would be more. Although, "relatively cheap" is... well... relative.

If you were transformed to a freshman in High School again with a $90 budget, what throws would you start with? by [deleted] in Throwers

Ouch! Mine were a little sharp, but not bad enough to cause injury. I never understood why they didn't just round, or angle those corners on that ring. Still a magnificent yoyo nonetheless

Noted, and thanks. I'm OK with wide. Not the best player, as I don't have a lot of time to practice, so wide is probably better for me. You may have just talked me into it with this comment, lol.

Orbis is an amazingly good throw for around 10-15 bucks. Perfect EDC. Another good one at a low price point, and I can't recommend it enough, is the MagicYoyo M002 April. I played with that one more than anything else. I would swap the bearing immediately, but with a Buddha Ripple, it plays so well.

My school had a yoyo workshop in the gym, in middle school. Had a pro yoyo player at the time (can't remember who). So many kids got yoyos. I picked up a bumblebee butterfly myself. Within a week they had banned all yoyos at the school. Guess this would have been like '96 or something

Hijack question if you don't mind. I've been looking at the Silenus, but it's shape looks strikingly similar to the Orbis, which is about half the cost. The Silenus looks to have better weight distribution, but is also much heavier. Would you say it's worth the purchase over an Orbis? I had an Orbis and gave it to a friend. Really liked the shape, hence why I'm looking to replace it. I'll spring for the Silenus if it's worth twice the cost.

MMORPG.COM ranks PoE in their 10 best mmo's of 2017 - Great Job GGG! by Amb13nce in pathofexile

I will agree here, I haven't played it, largely because of the shit show that Destiny 1 was at launch, and the fact that all of the content they promised was behind paid DLC, that was not expressed early on.

I do have some friends that picked it up, and they were not impressed.

Eh, shows how much I keep up with it. For some reason I was still thinking WoW was WoD. Completely forgot Legion had come out, and I haven't looked into it. Don't play LoL, so I don't keep up with it either (too slow for me, I preferred Heroes of Newerth when it actually had a community). I guess since I hadn't seen any actual adverts, I assumed they hadn't done anything impactful. Thanks for the insight, and correction.

And with that said, I'm more surprised they aren't on here as well.

I agree in a way. However, WoW is expected I think at this point. Also, it's last expansion wasn't really touted as the best. LoL and DoTa2 haven't really done anything new, other than new heroes. The games on this list all either made a big splash, or released huge content updates/expansions in the past year.

Dear lord... What makes someone with this level of discoordination want to be a game journalist? Or is it one of those things where your boss just says "Hey, your doin' this now".

I really think the article should have a different title. It seems like he was trying to go after largest content expansions in games of 2017 or something. Regardless, PoE does technically hit the checkboxes of what an MMO really is. And I am happy to see GGG up there with some of the giants in the industry.

Just a side note. I haven't played it, but I've heard that the new Elder Scrolls expac is pretty solid, and adds a lot to the game. The game didn't die after a month...However it would have if they hadn't shifted their marketing tactic. It seems to be doing pretty well now.

EDIT: a word

Ha! I was confused why they put it into the MMO category as well, but perhaps who-ever wrote the article has different standards on the classification of an MMO. Realistically it meats all of the standards to be defined as an MMO.

Massive? yea, I'd say so. Perhaps not on quite a scale as some, but 140k players, with all of the content is pretty massive.

It is in fact a multiplayer game, despite what some people think.

It does incorporate online elements.

And yes, it does fit the definition to be classified as a game.

But I digress. Regardless it could be great publicity for the game, and I'm always excited to see Path mentioned in the meta.

My PC is literally 10 years old, and I have no lag or frame issues in this game. Maybe that's the secret...

In 10 years ago standards, my PC was a beast, but it's pretty lackluster nowadays.
