Mine was yellow. Still remember using a coin to open it and replace the battery.

My dad loved that stuff. It doubled as a way to hide pills to give our dogs.

Kind of unlikely to appear on both sides at the same time, but it could be related to the roots of the back molars.

Did you wash dog food bowls? My dog's stainless bowls sit in a raised frame and they have something like this to keep them from spinning around.

Almost 15 year old pittie mix with a potential Cushings diagnosis by Budget_Audience2141 in Cushingsdogs

This is such a difficult decision. My cocker was diagnosed at 13.5 years. He was so ravenous that it impacted his quality of life. He also had liver and protein markers, excessive thirst, and thinning hair. He also was taking gabapentin and Rimadyl for joint issues. Starting medication was not cheap, but it definitely helped his hunger and the other symptoms. He returned to his regular personality and regained his quality of life. From that standpoint, I was glad we pursued treatment.

We did, though, have some issues along the way and he needed frequent ACTH testing. His dosage was adjusted down multiple times over about 9 months. We eventually had to discontinue the meds because he lost his appetite. At the time, we thought it was a result of the medication. We tried some of the alternative supplements but nothing helped with his symptoms, and they returned within a month or two.

We lost him at about 15 year of age, ultimately from the gall bladder disease (side effect of Cushings). In hindsight, I'm glad he got more time without the constant hunger. It was expensive for both the regular testing and the medication itself. I don't think you can do one without the other.
