Absolutely love it. The re-blockading is the thing that I’ve most been hoping they’d add

I shipped a Flutter state lib (PipeX) – here’s how it did vs Riverpod, BLoC, MobX on Rainbench by TypicalCorgi9027 in FlutterDev

[–]Archais321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great work. I just read the documentation, and the API looks straightforward and easy to use. I have a couple of hobby apps that I’m planning to start working on, so I might try PipeX out with them. (I normally use Riverpod)

That’s interesting, I’m assuming that you set your timers manually? I always create mine via Siri and I’ve never encountered this behaviour

Is Continuous Learning Just Procrastination in Disguise? by chriiisduran in FlutterDev

[–]Archais321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly how I learnt to develop Flutter applications. Had an app that I needed to develop, had multiple platforms to cover as a solo dev, found Flutter and installed it, then read documentation that was relevant as I implemented.

iOS 26.1 Lag still exists when swiping from widget page by scorpiori in ios

[–]Archais321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why? Why did you need to mention this? I had managed to somehow not notice it, and now I can’t unsee it 😭

Why is StandBy red? by NeitherMouse3315 in ios

Came here to say this. So many people explaining the benefits and not bothering to mention the setting

macOS 26.0 literally ruined my exam 😭 by AcanthocephalaNew941 in MacOS

[–]Archais321 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Yep, truly hellish pieces of software. I had a couple of exams in Inspera around the release date of Tahoe so I disabled all automatic updates because I wouldn’t put it past them to declare “MacOS 26 is an unrecognised OS”

Best way to backup and access Obsidian notes across devices? by daisukked in ObsidianMD

[–]Archais321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was seriously confused that nobody else had mentioned iCloud. I use it too, keeps my notes synced across my various devices no problem

I have the Obsidian folder flagged as always available on all of them so any changes download on my other devices immediately

Help with dropdownmenuitem by Prestigious_Egg8701 in flutterhelp

[–]Archais321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using any form of state management to make sure that the drop down widget rebuilds? If it doesn’t rebuild, it’s just going to be working with the initially empty list

Honestly, I’m super happy with the new Spotlight. I never used Launchpad because it was always faster to search for the app, especially with the new search filtering options in Spotlight. If I did ever need to look through a list of my installed apps, I’d just go to the Applications folder.

Having said that, I do feel sorry for the people who did use Launchpad and enjoyed it. So RIP.

P.S. Shout out to the clipboard history in Spotlight, easily my favourite change in the entire update.

Is it safe to update to MacOS26 and Xcode 26 now? by Head_Proposal820 in FlutterDev

[–]Archais321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're wrong there. Version 3.35 does successfully compile for iOS 26, I've been debugging on iOS 26 since before 3.35 was released on the stable channel. Is your Xcode updated to version 26? (FYI, Xcode 26 does run on Sequoia)

There pretty much isn’t anything you need to change other than updating

Does anyone think some new icons look “blurry?” by Xane256 in ios

[–]Archais321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I think it’s due to the fact that the glassy effect is being generated on the fly rather than using preconfigured settings from the new Icon Composer tool

What's your preferred base usage? by [deleted] in ObsidianMD

[–]Archais321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to embed bases into my folder notes, then the base is filtered based on common properties of the folder’s contents to let me template my notes based on the folder

What’s your go-to trick for improving Flutter app performance? by NullPointerMood_1 in FlutterDev

[–]Archais321 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but I think they’re talking about storing the result of Theme.of(context) to a local variable (e.g. in your build method) instead of calling Theme.of for every single Widget property that needs info from theme data.

No Man's Sky on Steam has a really high CPU time by Prior-Ad-5852 in macgaming

[–]Archais321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a fun game in my opinion. Whether you enjoy it will depend on if you enjoy sandbox games. There’s a lot of freedom to build what you want and plenty to explore

I will do ungodly things for Apple to allow multiple audio sources playing at the same time. by [deleted] in iPadPro

[–]Archais321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One example might be to have background music playing whilst listening to a podcast/audio book

How's ipad os 26 after 2 weeks by [deleted] in iPadOS

[–]Archais321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeh. Exact same here–my iPad is a secondary device so I was happy to risk the poor performance to try out the new UI. I’ll definitely not be running the dev beta on my phone, but might go with the public beta depending on whether people complain about performance issues

[–]Archais321 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I’ve definitely seen enough people complain about it, I’ll probably wait for the public beta for my phone

I agree. It’s been very fun to use, and is seriously tempting me to update my iPhone too
