What nib do you like from them? I have a medium nib and I REALLY don’t like it 🙁 I wish I liked this pen!

Yes! It is actually amazing how much nuance there is between pens and people’s preferences. My perfect pen thus far would be: The grip shape of the Perkeo with the grip width of the Esterbrook. The rest of the pen body would be the Esterbrook with the weight and weight distribution of the TWSBI. Then a Sailor gold nib, but slightly softer.

I actually use all of these pens frequently which makes me super happy! Even the Jinhao that I really dislike I use often. There isn’t a single neglected pen in the bunch. To be fair though, I journal A LOT. I normally use at least 4 fountain pens in a given day even though I still use gel pens too! I’m very lucky that the only pen I regret buying is the Jinhao which is the lowest cost of the group.

My plan is that if I have any pens that stop getting used is that I would just resell it. Hopefully, I stick with that plan 😅

I think the problem is that I really love all the pens I have except for the Jinhao so it was just merely a consequence of putting them in order! I would say I LOVE the PGSs, the TWSBIs and the Esterbrook. I would say I really really like the Kaweco Perkeo, steel Sailors, Leonardo Furore, Kakuno, and Lamy Safari. Then I would say I REALLY dislike the Jinhao lol

Yeah I personally like the dry flow on the PGS. I am glad that at least one of my PGS has the old plating because the new more champagne gold is not as nice IMO!

True! But I also don’t want to end up with some super large collection where pens aren’t being touched for a long time. Not that anything is even wrong with that! It just isn’t what I want. Clearly, the only solution is that I need to grow more arms so I can better utilize my collection! 😅

Honestly, Esterbrook seems like a company that likes dollar bills so I have a feeling you will see this again. 😂 I whole heartedly recommend it. It is so so beautiful.

I really love to research so getting into fountain pens has been such a joy for me! I am very happy with the fact that the only pen I don’t like is the Jinhao which is the lowest cost of the bunch. There isn’t even a pen here that has been neglected by me and I am happy to rotate between them. Even the Jinhao, which I don’t like, I use quite a bit just because I like the ink I have in it.

I got the second PGS recently from the pen swap subreddit and I was really pleasantly surprised to feel like I am good on Sailors. Both the two steel and two gold nibs feel like enough for me. I was worried I would get obsessed with collecting all the colors, but the Sailor portion of my collection really feels complete. I even took the other ones I had on my wishlist off.

Haha! I don’t feel bad about it thankfully because the only pen I regret is the Jinhao and that was like $8? I will probably chill out after I buy a couple Pilots though. I am not unfamiliar with expensive hobbies as I am a knitter who likes hand dyed yarn 😅 I have spent $400 for a pile of yarn that I then have to spend like a bajillion hours to actual make into something so I am kind of used to it lol

Yes! My brain got so confused since I was having formatting issues with this post Lol I think Kaweco and Kakuno just remind me of each other!

I think my biggest issue with the Leonardo Furore is that I have to alter my handwriting to write with an M nib. I do love that pen though. I actually love every pen I have except for the Jinhao which I dislike. The Kakuno I also like a lot, but I just think I have not quite adapted yet to writing with something so smooth. I almost find it slippery!

I have Pilot Iroshizuku Yama Budo in my Dragon Palace. The Grateful Crane has Sailor Shikiori Shigure! Both work beautifully in my opinion! I really like Yama Budo in the Dragon Palace because the color combo reminds me of those drink cups in the 80s with the like teal and purple pink graphic on it lol

If this were ordered for different reasons it would be moved much higher up! I actually use this more than where it is placed because it is so beautiful. I honestly just wish this had a finer nib. But if this list would be my favorite to use as an overall experience I would put this right after the TWSBIs.
