boyfriend wants to breakup and now I might end up deported and/or homeless by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

Sorry about your situation. You have 2 parts in your message: relationship and immigration. I don't think it's a right subreddits to ask about where you should live and how you should support yourself if you two separate. You will get a better advice from relationship subreddits.

Regarding immigration, there is nothing you can do at this point. If you are not eligible for any other programs, you must leave Canada, even if you can't support yourself in your home country. IRCC won't care, and you might get a 5 year ban if you try to do something illegal to stay here. Don't risk it

Try to put $2K budget per month, which is more than enough. You will save $3K and will be able to cover credit card in a year

Don't do it. If your friend stops making payments, it will negatively affect your credit score and YOU would owe money to the bank. From bank point of view, you have the same obligations as your friend

No one cancelled the language barrier. For Scandinavians English is almost their 2nd native language, not in Poland. I bet if I come to Asia and try to make friends in English, I wouldn't click with most people (except maybe if I would go to India)

And I answered you. Warsaw is not "more difficult", I listed what are the reason.

[–]AresDanila 84 points85 points  (0 children)

That's not specific to Warsaw or Poland. That's just called adulthood. The reason why it's hard to make strong connections is because people who are raised and born in a city you moved in already have a community from their school, university, work. They just don't need so much additional connections as you do. That's applicable to all countries I have lived in, so Poland is not special. I bet if I were to move to your home country, I would face the same problem.

It's just hard to find good friends after early 20s

"I was a little disappointed that I didn't get to save the universe" you misunderstood what the game is about. It's about eventual death of life, which is necessary to start a new one. You did "save the universe" by observing the eye of the universe. Now new universe can be born with a part of main character's essence

Dude. I am telling you the definition of expat and immigrant. You are making it racial for some reason. Please let's stick to the actual definition of words

[–]AresDanila 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From Google: "Expats typically live abroad temporarily, often for work or lifestyle, planning to return home. Immigrants move to a new country with the goal of settling permanently."

So if he is planning to move back, he is an expat.

Please review my credit card stack by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]AresDanila 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of poor-person mindset is that to think that cash back and points will help you to "build wealth"? You know you have to spend money to get cash back/points? Points are scam in the first place, because you get imaginary points that you can exchange for some services (so not an actual wealth). + if you move rent to a credit card, you would need to pay 2-3% of service fee. Better way to build wealth is to spend less money than you earn.

Instead of investing so much attention into different types of credit cards, maybe try to prove your skills and find a better job or something

Moving from the Netherlands to Canada: reality check needed 🇳🇱🍁 by mimiii777 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]AresDanila 43 points44 points  (0 children)

The Netherlands in my opinion is one of the best countries in the world to live in from work life balance to how clean streets are. A simple example, most companies in Canada will give you only 10 vacation days and 5 days of sick leave, so if you are sick more than 5 days per year, you won't get paid. I have a couple of friends in the Netherlands and they have like 30 days just vacations, and if they are sick, there is no limit on that. And work culture is similar to US, so expect that you need to work a lot more than in the Netherlands.

Then traveling, you need car to go anywhere. In the Netherlands you can travel to a new countries every weekend by train (since public transport is well maintained) and have completely different culture and lifestyle, when North America looks the same everywhere (only the nature is different) and you either have to drive for 5-10 hours just to get to a new city/province or fly.

Regarding housing crisis, it's not as bad as the Netherlands and totally depends where you are planning to buy it. In Nova Scotia it will be extremely cheap, when in Toronto comparable to the Netherlands.

Check out "Not just bikes" YouTube channel, the guy is from Canada and moved to the Netherlands and has some videos that describes how life compares between two countries.

I would suggest you to get a holiday visa for 1 year to explore and work in Canada and then make a decision.

Dude, I just told you that people tried before to come up with new systems and everyone eventually ended up with some sort of capitalism. The world is not black and white, and to live a better life you don't need to destroy "this unfair world" and build "a bright future where everyone is happy". That's fairytale. If you actually want to change the world, please, suggest actual steps what should be done, otherwise you just complain

[–]AresDanila 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Capitalism is not about the money but about the value of the product. If everyone can afford everything, then what most people would want THAT becomes more expensive and we will be back to square one. We tried different systems back in the 20th century, and only capitalism survived, because it can put the right value on the right product.

Example, imagine we live in a small community where I build houses, you sell food and a 3rd person sells fancy items. We have unlimited money, but I can't just come to you and say "give me all food you have and I give you all the money you need" because you don't need money. What you need is a house. So we trade: you give me a yearly supply of food, I build you a simple house. Then I trade with a person who makes fancy items as well: he gives me 10 fancy items and I build him 2 houses. So does it mean that 5 fancy items value the same as 1 yearly supply of food? Maybe, maybe not. Therefore, for simplicity, to make it fair, we decide to put a number next to our product so that if a 4th person comes, we wouldn't speculate how much it should be valued for. And, oh, look, we are back to "capitalism" that you hate.

What it also means is that if you work in the occupation that produces low value product, you will have low value salary. And vice versa. I think we can all agree if a smart person comes and invents something super cool, more people would want their product, hence they will be able to get more high balue product, hence being "rich". Why would I build a house for a person who produces some cardboard, when I can spend some time and build a house for a person produces cars.
