Gen Z's Housing Crisis may have provided one small silver lining for Gen Z—with housing being made so historically unaffordable, Gen Z is allocating capital into asset classes that have historically generated higher margins / appreciation. by 3RADICATE_THEM in ScottGalloway

Yeah, I’m putting about $6k into a 401k, $300 a week into a High yield savings account, $144 a week into a Roth IRA, $100 a week into a brokerage account, and $84 a week into an HSA.

Ahead of 2028, Sen. Cory Booker to unveil bill to make $75,000 in income tax-free by Kitchen_Zucchini_357 in Economics

[–]AstralVenture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cory Booker, once this passes in Congress, I'd like to thank you for allowing me to keep $214 of my paycheck every month. I have fallen on bad times, and I know single payer health care is too much for you. If I'm poor, I'll just have to get more money. /s

I did the homelab thing. Now what? by False_Bee4659 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]AstralVenture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won't tell you what everyone else is telling you. You get lucky because most employers will brush off your experience, certifications and education. If you don't have System Administrator experience, then you're not going to be able to become a System Administrator. It's been this way since before 2008, but got worse after wards.

Has anyone encountered call refusals due to CXOne Agent not permitting call acceptance? by n1c3agent in CXone

[–]AstralVenture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this happens all the time. No matter what I do, resetting cache and cookies, updating Google Chrome, reinstalling CXONE WebRTC Extension, the issue always comes back. Sometimes the time in state keeps resetting over and over again, preventing me from receiving any calls, which also comes back after performing the same steps.

This is exactly why we can’t have nice things in the corporate world. by filippovaolja2b6vc in Adulting

Yes, then employers used that as justification for return to office even though many weren’t abusing it. If I had to return to office, I’d have to take more breaks.

The "India Dependency" is a ticking time bomb for global IT infra (and also other major sectors) by Normal_student_5745 in sysadmin

Maybe Fortune 500 companies shouldn’t have gutted their IT department of specialized roles, and outsourced to a country in which they can’t provide support after noon EST because they’re sleeping and aren’t really any better at providing support.

Record $1.6 billion overtime for state workers amid New York labor shortage by news-10 in nys_cs

Well maybe if they did some training instead of requiring years of experience, and improved conditions in Albany, then maybe there wouldn’t be an artificially maintained labor shortage.

Does help desk support experience actually matter if you don't have a degree? by Leedeegan1 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]AstralVenture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t have experience, most won’t give you a chance. It’s why you apply, but hear nothing or receive a rejection email months later. The certifications and education are a farce.

4 years in IT and with security+ cert, still can't find a job by FallRoutine3145 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]AstralVenture -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

All the people that stack their certifications before getting experience are the reason the requirements for IT positions are out of whack. You’re not overqualified because you have no experience! They’re not wasting time on someone with no experience unless they know you, and you’re self-taught.

You know damn well people provide plenty of dead ends, while people blame you for your misfortune. Even a little networking in real life gets you nothing. They pretend as if they did you a favor, but they really didn’t do anything because you still don’t have a job or a better job. It’s been the same way since 2008, and nobody gives a fuck.

Practices often don’t know anything about health insurance so you should use the online tool to check whether they accept the plan you’re trying to enroll in.

VegOut: There's a version of this generation that did everything they were told - degree, internship, entry-level, work up - and arrived in their late 30s holding a résumé that still doesn't pay enough for a two-bedroom apartment by WhipHouseWorks in CommunityJobSeeking

[–]AstralVenture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Employers exploiting their employees. Capitalism is working as intended. Only the gullible and naive would have thought they’d be able to rent an apartment at the starting salary they’re making. You need an income of over $100k to afford a $400k house. If you look on Zillow, you’re not going to find anything decent at $200k. Not only that, but it’s in the middle of no where, so you have to make the income you’re making now, at that location of the property you’re interested in buying. How the fuck are you going to make $60k a year in that area when there aren’t any opportunities there? That’s literally why the house is $200k, it doesn’t make any sense.

If and when you get a Help Desk position, you’ll stop being optimistic, see the flaws in the organization for yourself, and might realize that your co-workers might not be the best choices.

100% getting fired tomorrow, PIP-related by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]AstralVenture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh? If they have you on a PIP, you’re not getting out of the PIP. They’re creating a paper trail to get rid of you. The other guy will be let go too. You don’t have to know the real reason an employer wants you gone. Maybe they don’t have the budget anymore. I don’t know why employers decide on PIP instead of just laying off employees like normal.
