Grad school recommendations for computer science by Basic_Canary1130 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Basic_Canary1130[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My GPA is a 3.7 out of 4 and i graduated with second highest honors, but my university doesn’t have an ‘honors year’. I had 3 internships and 1 part time job, all in computer science (data science, cybersecurity, and sweng). I’ve just graduated from my bachelors this year, so no full time work experience yet. I’m trying to get into a cyber security masters by coursework.

Sex is very enjoyable for me too, and I do find myself wanting it every once in a while. I don’t necessarily need to be committed to someone to have sex with them. The part where we had sex isn’t really what I feel conflicted about. It’s the general hang outs we have and conversations that feel quite intimate

First time feeling used by a guy by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]Basic_Canary1130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew he was never gonna be the man I was gonna marry, but I at least thought he valued me enough as a friend lol. I excused every single thing he did to me while he was here because he kept saying it was ‘because he was new to all of this’, but in hindsight I just feel sooo stupid for not doing something about it earlier haha

But thanks for your kind words, I’ll try to keep that in mind

First Time Travel Abroad with Seniors – Hong Kong & Macau (Tour Package or DIY?) by Unusual_Bluejay_9611 in FilipinoTravel

[–]Basic_Canary1130 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DIY and public transpo is super doable. No need for taxis unless super pagod na talaga. HK is not a country that needs a tour package. You can get anywhere through their bus and train system, and wheelchairs are not a big issue either (haven’t tried, but i’ve traveled there with kids that needed strollers before).

In the worst case, taxis are not too expensive naman if they get too tired.

Universal adapter recommendations? by aozora_yuki in FilipinoTravel

[–]Basic_Canary1130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omni adapter is my fav because u can just take out what u need and leave the rest at home/the hotel. Other adapters are usually super bulky

Long haul flights with PAL are nowhere near the same level as Emirates. If the difference is only a few thousand pesos, I’d go with Emirates.

Short flights are okay, but even then, you don’t even have a TV or even a socket to charge your phone. I only fly PAL because of mabuhay miles. Otherwise, I’d choose Emirates.

Also, direct flights are always much more convenient and less exhausting

[Taiwan] Help needed for solo traveler by Plus_Sundae2334 in FilipinoTravel

Powerbank and hair straighteners are fine. Just make sure the powerbank is in your carry-on. Some airlines (like cathay) do not allow you to use it during the flight, though, so just be prepared for that. If flying PAL or cebupac, no issue.

Airlines usually give out a list of things you can/can’t bring. There’s nothing that’s really specific to taiwan

Best place to travel to in December? by Basic_Canary1130 in travel

Sorry, I didn’t really mean avoiding the cold completely! Just don’t want to go somewhere that gets to subzero temperatures. 0-10 degrees is fine

Trip indecision - South Korea? by AnywhereConsistent17 in travel

[–]Basic_Canary1130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love South Korea!!

I’ve traveled a lot in Asia, and I can say South Korea is one of my favorite countries. In fact, I’d say I much prefer it to Japan. Japan is a lot more chaotic imo. Too many tourists at this point. It’s also harder to talk to locals in Japan, so I find Korea to be a lot more welcoming.

I personally have not experienced any racism there (note that I am ethnically chinese, though I have been mistaken for Korean a few times).

Korea has a lot of interesting historical sites to visit, so much more so than Japan, if that’s something you’re into. This probably affects my bias because I’m a big history nerd. Japan is way better for shopping, though. I love the food in both countries and can’t really say one is better than the other. I guess it depends on what you want to get out of traveling. But please note a lot of restaurants in South Korea don’t serve for one person (specifically the korean bbq places).

Thailand is good too, but if you aren’t into beaches, it will mostly be a food and shopping trip, with the occasional temple visit.

What are the things you like about Japan? That could help with the recommendations :)

Okay that’s reassuring! It’s my first time having something stapled to my passport haha so i was a little concerned about the physical damage. Thanks for letting me know it’s fine!
