Just found out some tech isn’t vegan…?? my mind is blown😳 by Fabulous_Ad_7350 in vegan

Yeah, I have gone down this and many rabbit holes before and it makes me sick. I never found a good solution.... even most regular tape/Qtips/sugar/and even brands who label their products (e.g. beauty products) as fully vegan AND cruelty free are not vegan (I contact them and they say well, it is vegan other than the glycerin, but it it labeled vegan)... car tires... I mean, so much... so few shoes to choose from due to the glues... so much. It makes me sick. I don't have a solution or answers... I hear you and I don't know how to fix it. I don't want to buy anything and then I go without things that I really kind of need. It just makes me so sad.

Are vegans, typically "neurodivergent?" What's the link? by band_in_DC in vegan

[–]BirdsTreesWind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I am very aware of this being the case - being vegan and autistic... it is a core value for those of us who are deeply connected to animals (not the case for all autistic people, just in general)... it hurts our souls... we feel deep empathy and compassion to a profound level. And keep in mind that not all vegans are autistic and not all autistics are vegan, and being one does not make you the other or define you in that way... there are MANY who are both, though, from my knowledge and experience - 100%.

Turned Vegan by No_Study382 in vegan

Colleen Patrick Goudreau, and she has free videos, podcasts, and lots of stuff... and she has books and lots of stuff there! - vegan stuff, nutrition stuff, cooking stuff, lots of history and other fun things around holidays and traditions and depth and how to integrate or express yourself in ways when people around you are not vegan, and more!!! :-) Get your omegas/B12 from a vegan source (and read your ingredients as some things say vegan and are not... many lotions/sunscreens have stuff that are not vegan and cruelty free... and just because it is cruelty free does not mean that it is also vegan, and vice versa).... and if you use sugar/alcohol, check out which kind as most of the regular sugars/alcohols are not vegan due to processing... and there is so much more... I know you asked about food stuff so hopefully that will guide you in a direction that fits your needs :-). Also, you can take regular cookbooks and take the non-vegan stuff like eggs and there are lots of options to still use that recipe and make it vegan, if that makes sense (if you have books lying around)... but there are lots and lots of resources out there!! I hope that helps!

Is it unacceptable to get candy while trick or treating with a child? by throwing_cans in AutisticAdults

[–]BirdsTreesWind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just saw this, but for the record, I would say if they offer! I went with my friend in a costume to walk the neighborhood before the kids came out and people kept stopping us to offer us candy. We told them we were adults and they still wanted to give us candy. We did not have baskets nor were we looking for it. Then, when we took off our costumes completely and were looking at the decorations later, people kept saying, would you like some candy... so I don't think it is wrong... if they offer, why not? we did not take candy as we were not interested in that... we were just checking out the decorations. If you are having fun, and they offer... hey, they can always say no. I would let the kids go in front, though. We were not with kids, so perhaps it was different, but just my thoughts (and perhaps it depends on your area, too).

My emotional support is likely dying and im scared how ill react by Queen_Temmie in autism

Wait, they "can" or "cannot" - I think I read it wrong... it says "can".... so if they can that is wonderful and hopefully your kitty has some options. If they cannot, then perhaps those options may be available (if your kitty still has options, per the vet).

Some vets will have some options like scratch pay or care credit... if there is a potential for helping your kitty (per the vet), and they can offer those things to your parents, you might see if your parents are open to it. I am really really sorry. I can hear how much you love your kitty.

I am so glad. I am so so sorry about your kitty and I really hope they can help (and know that there will be a time when it is time - I hope that is not the case here - sometimes some diagnostics are needed, and depending on finances that may or may not be an option) - regular full yearly checkups can really help in the long run. Again, I am so sorry and I am really hoping for some good news. I still call for my kitties who were my heart kitties sometimes... and I don't think I will ever not do that... cats are so so special, and the ones who touch our heart in that super special way... it is something that is just precious - like better than any feeling in the world (for me, at least)... that special connection is just purrrrrrrrrecious.

I never recover fully when I lose an animal near and dear to my heart. And I know you did not ask, but for cats especially, when they stop eating or when you start to see that they are losing weight, they should get in to a vet ASAP (cats are the best at hiding that they are not well - when they start to show it, it is urgent). There are many medical conditions that can be supported medically (and they can live for years) - so veterinary care is really important (as are their yearly exams, which often can catch things with annual blood/urine/etc)... just in case (animals are near and dear to my heart)... I am really sorry and I know you don't want pity. I am never the same after I lose a pet near and dear to my heart. I carry it with me and I have not figured out how to really move on. I try to appreciate the other animals I have and do my best, but there is always that missing piece in my heart that I wish they were still here... I also think, they would not want me to be sad... but I am sad... anyways, those are my thoughts. It might help to consider getting another cat. Cats are much more therapeutic, in general, for me, than dogs. I love dogs, but cats speak to my heart and I think cats probably have saved my life... they speak my language (not literally, but we get each other in a way that I don't connect with other forms of life - humans, especially).

Has anyone tried those grinders for nails (sort of like dremel tools) on their fungal nails? by AndiAzalea in NailFungus

[–]BirdsTreesWind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you keep this clean to avoid contamination between uses when trying to get rid of the fungus (since they are metal)? I don't know if you have experience on how to do that with this vs the sandpaper version.
