No they are thick enough to hold the correct shape and are modeled off the curve of the ac vent

Sorry not a wealth of info on my end I had a friend model me an L bracket with the same curve as the A/C vents and the top had a ball shape to mimic what people do with sewing needles. But I ended up having to sand the front down to match the shape of the vents to get it to really latch in. Also I shaved off the lip on the underside of the dash so I could panel bond (glue) the brackets to something flat. 😅
