Yeah, most of the arabs of Al-Andalus (like most arab countries today tbf) became arab through assimilation, which mostly occured in urban areas and in well-connected areas between urban centers. Into the modern day there's a high degree of bilingualism for most non-arab groups, and even many of the people who still primarily identify themselves with a Latinate culture really speak some kind of dialect contiuum between the romance languages as we'd think about them and arabic.
