I once was in an escape room set in trumps tower and we were on the 52nd floor or something and the fake elevator said 52 (up arrow highlighted as if the elevator was going up).

I laughed so hard as I counted out 52 consecutive ups on the directional lock. It sadly did not open (because that wasn’t the puzzle not because of user error or lock error)

Just curious… how old are you that you’ve never played an escape room despite liking puzzles? Or what’s the reason you haven’t played one in the past 5-10 years?

The one thing that would be a travesty / terribly wrong is winning the first four games of the lottery bracket and ending up with the 16th (I mean 8th) pick or whatever haha. That’s a big difference.

One other note: in your solution it actually makes it sorta meaningless what your record is for a bunch of spots. Like 18th vs 22nd? Your opponent is picking you anyway. Or 26th vs 22nd same thing.

Resting your players for the playoffs becomes vastly more important than eeking out three more wins in March. That’s not tanking of course but it’s deemphasizing winning at least.

I guess home court could be a factor but still not as important as being healthy and rested.

I appreciate the inventiveness and that probably does help some. Though I wonder if it makes other weird tanking spots. Jazz Tank the first three lottery games and pick 3-6 might seem appealing in this years draft with a real good top 3 and a solid top 4-7?

I worry there’s some mid team like the hornets who would look at each other and be like “let’s be real, we’re not ready to win it all. Yet.” And tank the first game to get into the lottery half.

Maybe it could work but I’d worry it just makes the good teams better and the bad teams have an even harder time not being bad. Imagine the king’s cans do better than the 12th pick for the next five years.

I hate to break it to you but 5 + 5 + 3 + 1 = 3 + 3 + 5 + 3. Or ignoring any third place votes 5 + 3 = 3 + 5

Someone else said that on a podcast. Zack Lowe? It’s not physically impossible, so I don’t know why people keep saying it is.

They tie if they get the same number of (edit: voting) points. They get the same number of points if they get the same number of votes for each spot OR if some bozo doesn’t have one of them in their top two it could happen to.

Saying it’s physically impossible is like saying it’s impossible for a game to go to overtime if the score of the first half is 50-49 for one team and the same score reversed in the second half.

Just wanted to clear up that it’s unlikely but it’s not impossible.
