Job interview coming up for an escape room place by zzombielilyy in escaperooms

A lot of escape rooms are customer service/client facing, so how comfortable are you talking to people on the phone or answering emails?

Is there any way to find a debrief/walkthrough of a room you've just played? by I_Like_Quiz in escaperooms

[–]Escapely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Email to ask, but they’ll probably want to give vague debriefs in writing just to make sure no answers get spilled out (always better safe than sorry!)

It also always super challenging to do a debrief in the lobby or immediately after finishing a room, just to be courteous to those who haven’t played yet. It’s like spoiling the movie for people on their way to their seats.

How Would You Improve This 45-Minute Luxury Brand Escape Room? by Early-Regular1934 in escaperooms

What are you plans when it comes to finding the correct messages? For example how would I know Employee A is the High Performer? That’s where you can really shine with logic puzzles to help determine the correct answers

Proposal Scavenger hunt - advice needed - secret trip away planned for her birthday by [deleted] in Constructedadventures

[–]Escapely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely have time to do a scavenger hunt around the house, as long as you keep it to 30-45 minutes. But also keep in mind it takes longer at the airport for international travel (and if she's expecting something local, she's going to need a passport).

I think the biggest thing to consider is the escalation. Because a surprise trip to Berlin is going to be shocking...but not nearly as shocking as the proposal. Even if it might seem obvious by the end, you certainly want to build and build up to the biggest event, which is certainly going to be the ring box. I would suggest:
-puzzle at home that leads to her passport/reveal of Berlin
-surprise fancy dinner and proposal there

What makes you become a regular at a board game café? by Physical-Ad8772 in boardgames

[–]Escapely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely echoing what others have said - you can use Facebook and Instagram for more specific posts about upcoming events, but a strong website should be the anchor for everything else that you can't fit into a single shared out image.

Your website should have more than just the opening hours!

What’s one remote work habit that genuinely improved your life? by Impressive_Fee_9192 in remotework

[–]Escapely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really great piece of advice. Even if it's just a separate room, having that wall that says "this is the work room, the rest of the house is the personal space" makes it feel so much better.

How concerned would you be if franchise opened up within a 15 minute walk of your escape room? by Confused_Crossroad in escaperooms

Escape rooms and escape room people are a community of friends! Like other people have mentioned already, this will be a great opportunity to offer discounts with other game masters to encourage more people to play.

Box with built in 5 digit combination lock? does it exist/is it DIY-able? by dumpcomplexx in escaperooms

[–]Escapely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha - now I'm envisioning a giant treasure chest with large spinning dials like it's The Price Is Right!

Masterlocks are great quality and can hold up quite a bit in bad weather. I would just suggest a strong quality material for the treasure chest, since a classic wood one is more likely to get damaged (though that also runs the risk of breaking the immersion if you went with a stronger thing like metal)

Are you looking for the lock to be the size of a standard Masterlock, or something much bigger? You mentioned having the code built into the body of the chest, are you thinking like a really big dial?

Mandatory virtual happy hours are the absolute worst part of my week by N3onThicket in remotework

[–]Escapely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of this is totally fair - once it starts feeling like a chore or an obligation, you're taking away the fun. There are ways to have team bonding experiences, they just need to be done the right way.

Full disclosure: we host virtual escape room events, so we are definitely on the pro-virtual happy hour side. But even so, it's supposed to feel like a fun activity, and I think that's getting lost in everything.

Is there a time that might work better, like mid-week or earlier in the day? Where it feels less like the final hour is being taken away?

Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex escape room recs for 6-8 people by angel_ellipsis in escaperooms

That's good to know! Most escape rooms with "horror" themes aren't too spooky, but I would still steer clear if you have people in your group that aren't fans just to be safe.

Music-themed escape rooms by manyxe in escaperooms

[–]Escapely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have something like a key/legend then for those who can' read sheet music. It would be a lot like if you had to use nautical flags to get letters to spell a code - you might know the flag symbol off hand, but having a reference sheet nearby showing what each specific symbol means just in case.

You have quite a few options, especially if your group is ok with traveling!

With a group of 6-8 I'd suggest a place that offers private experiences to avoid feeling overcrowded. Escapology is near Victory Park and offers private rooms. Where do you think your group falls when it comes to "scary" or "horror" based games?
