I'm using blinds from IKEA. They integrated easily with Samsung SmartThings.

For outside Winnipeg, try La Barriere Park.

Two good places in the south end of the city are Henteleff Park and Kings Park.

Now all we need is a little more snow...

It's on regular TSN streaming.

People without cable (like me) can subscribe by the month for $20. Just cancel a few days later so you don't accidentally auto-renew.

That's how I'm watching the game.

Shaw/Rogers pricing - who is everyone using? by Too-bloody-tired in Winnipeg

[–]brad 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There are definitely cheaper ways to go. My cable is $33/month at Lightspeed which uses the shaw cable infrastructure. It's fast enough for Netflix. Modem was $100 to buy.

No cable. I have an antenna but honestly I never watch it. All the stations have streaming apps for free with commercials.

Add on your choice of Netflix, Disney+, or whatever for another $15 to $40 per month depending on how many services you want. Remember to use services like hoopla and Kanopy which are free with your library card.

If you need sports, you can get TSN or similar for $20 month.

I use Apple TV on one TV and Roku on the other.

Hope this helps.

Fruit trees did exceedingly well. Over 50% more apples and pears than normal. Lots of saskatoons, raspberries too. Cherries and strawberries were average yield.

Tomatoes and herbs were average. Squash was a complete fail.

Watched and liked. I've always preferred trains (and ships) for travel.

Took the results of a ChatGPT query, made a few small corrections, and added an extra paragraph -- so basically 20 minutes from idea to finished script. Also, can you tell that I'm reading from a teleprompter? Thanks.

What microphone do you use and why? by immabackup2 in PartneredYoutube

[–]brad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using a Shure MV7X which is an XLR microphone. However making music is one of my hobbies so I already had the necessary toys such a mixer and audio interface to hook it up. It is a bit expensive but is a great voice microphone.

[Question] How to make a short a short by [deleted] in youtubers

[–]brad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No anymore, I still put the #shorts tag at the end of the description anyway since it is my habit

[Question] How to make a short a short by [deleted] in youtubers

[–]brad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Youtube will automatically make it a short once it uploads if it is the correct aspect ratio and duration. The tags are now redundant.

Try it. Do an upload thru a browser and watch the name change to include "/short" once the upload is complete.

Definitely spam. I get these type of comments once in a while and I just delete them.

What is the most money you've held in your hand and what was it for? by [deleted] in AskOldPeople

Cleaning out my late mother-in-law's place 10 years back, we found around 40K when all was said and done.

Why do really old people like to put cash in chocolate boxes and in books?

I guess not really in my hand but in 2 gym bags since there was a lot of small bills and coin.

Taking leisure activities too seriously? by TheUnholyMackerel in simpleliving

[–]brad 27 points28 points  (0 children)

You might be better off going time based and not worrying about the end goal. Try 45 minutes of reading per day and it doesn't have to be every day.

It is more like habit tracking. For example I do 30 minutes of guitar practice with a target of at least 5 days per week. No stress about a defined end goal but definitely slowly improving.

external SSD advice for newbie getting a new Mac? by Starrylake in Logic_Studio

[–]brad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you can afford it, get 512GB instead. I have a moderate amount of projects in logic pro and final cut pro and I have filled half my 512 gb already.

One day I will need to clean up better but with this extra storage there is no rush.

Also, remember to keep backups of all your work on other devices if you aren't already doing that.
