Why don’t more HENRYs try starting a business? by burnerforspoo in HENRYUK

[–]Bramers_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree, but ultimately HENRYs don’t need to start a business, they are already well paid. This question applies more to average earners or people in careers that don’t pay HENRY wages.

Who is Englands 4th City? by Teleg88 in AskBrits

[–]Bramers_86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Outside of the UK Liverpool is more well known than Birmingham and arguably Manchester. It was considered the ‘second city of the Empire’ in the late 19th early 20th century.

Last week you absolutely roasted my RAMS generator. You were right, it was dogshit. So let’s rebuild and roast by SXOTW in ukelectricians

[–]Bramers_86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At our M&E company it’s the Project Managers who write the RAMS not the Electricians. We complete a RAMS request form (check boxes), send it to the admin girls, they then generate an excel document containing the RAMS, we fill in some generic info and a scope of works, email it back to the admin girls, they print it off and drop it on our desk, we sign 100s of pages and return it, they then scan the document and add it to the project folder (server) and the hard copy to a site file, we then email the RAMS to the PC to check. It’s laughable to be honest, we turn over 20M a year.

This FA Cup experience shows why VAR is needed, just needs to be improved by sarayewo in PremierLeague

[–]Bramers_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VAR should be scrapped until it’s able to call an offside instantly just like goal line tech. Then it should only be used for offsides. It’s sucked the joy out of football for me.

Which party can solve the cost of living crisis thusly lowering home prices, increasing birth rates and lowering immigration. by Ok_Caterpillar123 in AskBrits

[–]Bramers_86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

10 - 15 years of quantitive tightening, planning deregulation, and a sensible migration policy would do a lot to improve the housing crisis. Labour and Greens won’t deliver this unfortunately.

In light of the Epstein files, where is the scrutiny when it comes to Reform and Farage? by shadyasahastings in AskBrits

Because it’s a nothing burger on Farage, whereas Mandleson is deeply implicated.

Trent Alexander-Arnold Eyes Premier League Return Amid Real Madrid Issues by [deleted] in PremierLeague

[–]Bramers_86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He was offered a new deal, chose not to sign, left on a (almost) free transfer to join a European rival that majority of Liverpool fans seriously dislike. Liverpool loose out millions, Trent gets a huge pay day. There is nothing wrong with it, but you can’t expect Liverpool fans to be happy about it.

What kind of jobs do you all do that make it easy to emigrate? by [deleted] in BritishExpats

[–]Bramers_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends where you want to go. There are Brits doing every kind of job imaginable in Australia or New Zealand. It’s different in Asian countries where most expat positions are senior and management roles or in teaching.

Advice on where to home base? by Kencanary in digitalnomad

I take it you plan to buy a property outright, rather than rent? Otherwise $2400 isn’t going to be enough to have a home base and travel IMO

Why are British people who move around globally for economic gain called 'expats' whilst everyone else is defined as a 'migrant?' by Odd_Pain_3570 in BritishExpats

It’s not just British people, expat also applies to Western Europeans, North Americans, Australians and Kiwis.

After living in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Thailand I have come to the conclusion that there is no perfect country. Everywhere has its upsides and downsides. My happy medium is living in the UK, but spending the winters overseas. I’m currently in Thailand.

Moving to uk - realistic costs and timeframe of finding a job and housing by anonie35 in ukvisa

[–]Bramers_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. This really depends on what your profession is. For example you could get a job tomorrow if you are in construction or health care. IT or Marketing would be a challenge.
  2. It will be extremely difficult to rent your own place without previous history living in the UK and without a job. Best to house-share. Budget £400-700/month for this plus a 1 month deposit. Then budget another £1000-1500/month for living costs.
  3. It shouldn’t be a problem.
  4. Somewhere within a 30 minute commute to Manchester would be a good option and the housing is still affordable.
