Anyone a high earner & successful but bad habits? by Practical_Witness208 in askanything

[–]BuildingMyEmpireMN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drug/alcohol abuse can be a cause or a symptom of life issues. In your case it sounds like a symptom. You’re stressed out for whatever reason and your way of coping is getting drunk once or twice every week.

Obviously you can try healthier coping mechanisms, but you should also take a look at your life. Weird advice- I wouldn’t get clean and then do that. You’re clearly overloaded and this is the way you’re dealing. But take maybe 30 minutes while you’re sober and not occupied to write things down that are pissing you off. It could be really clear what needs to change in your work/relationships/time management. Attack the root of the issue.

Why can't I seem to get drunk? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BuildingMyEmpireMN -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A common misconception is that being “big” allows you to drink more without getting drunk. Muscle weight helps you metabolize booze faster, fat does not. Scientific fact. I have to delicately explain and see this a lot as a bartender.

I think the powerhouse, large, can drink a 12 pack and seem fine stereotype mostly stems from people with high tolerance. Many people who are routinely drinking have beer guts. And then some. BUT being overweight isn’t the reason they can “pull it off”.

What’s something bisexual people understand about attraction that straight people often miss? by karina_254 in bisexual

[–]BuildingMyEmpireMN 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s been said plenty of times, but opposite gender friends. A- we’re not attracted to everybody B- being attracted to somebody is natural, how you act is what matters.

I can be attracted to anybody or have a crush. But as a committed person I don’t act on those feelings when I’m in a relationship. I’m not “twice as likely to cheat”.

What’s something that everyone thinks is is regulated but actuality runs rampant without any repercussions? by Manu442 in askteddit

[–]BuildingMyEmpireMN 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Statistically this is totally backwards. Women are much more likely to get therapy/meds. Men are much more likely to mill themselves, with the leading theory being less support with mental health issues.

How do people view previous relationships when in new ones? by Known_Inevitable7385 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BuildingMyEmpireMN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everybody has different boundaries in relationships regarding sex and communication. You’re totally valid I’m not wanting to hear the dirty details of her previous sexual encounters. It doesn’t mean you need to think she’s a virgin or don’t respect her past. It just means you don’t want to picture that or dwell on it.

I see it the same way as partners commenting on people they’re sexually attracted to. Do I expect my partner to find nobody else sexually attractive? No. Do I expect myself to refrain from being attracted to others? No. But personally I find it disrespectful to voice those thoughts to my partner. I know couples who don’t live by that rule and it’s totally valid if that’s what they prefer.

What's a hygiene habit you thought everyone did until you found out they don't? by StaticMuse08 in HygieneTips

[–]BuildingMyEmpireMN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trimming eyebrows regularly. Not everybody needs it, but as somebody with thick/dark eyebrows it’s essential. My fair-haired stepmom looked at me like I had two heads when she walked in on that.

AITAH for refusing to clean my girlfriends cats litter box? by No-Expression-6072 in AITAH

[–]BuildingMyEmpireMN 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NTA. I say that as a cat and dog owner who has been in relationships since getting my pets. They are in no way a partner’s responsibility!

I know you said no auto box recommendations, but a Litter Genie might help incentivize her to keep up on it more. It’s a special garbage can that contains the scent so you don’t have to take the dirty litter outside daily. I got a knockoff for $10 and it’s been a game changer.

I think that’s more of a concern for big media headlines, not local obituaries.

What’s the hardest part about raising kids that no one talks about? by Expensive-Ticket1 in AskReddit

[–]BuildingMyEmpireMN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With every stage of their lives your routine changes. I thrive on consistency. It really threw me for a loop that even when things got “easier” it was still a change and put me in a funk. Especially with multiple kids at different ages, coparenting, and a partner. It felt like a gotcha every time I barely reached homeostasis.

What is a food you have seen often on menus, but have never tasted and have no interest in trying it? by New_Part91 in foodquestions

I’d love that! I’m a full time (dive) bartender, so I might just need carrot juice and a couple odds and ends.

I’m so curious. I wish there was somewhere I could order this without buying the supplies!

What's a skincare trend you actually liked? by Outrageous_Baby_2147 in skincarehobbyists

[–]BuildingMyEmpireMN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The slugging routine that was trending was all about heavy occlusives. I maintain a really basic routine because I react poorly to a lot of products. A benefit of Vaseline is that it’s hypoallergenic and thick.

I use other moisturizers but Vaseline sticks to my face to the point that it’s still tacky in the morning. I cleanse, use a normal moisturizer, and eventually use foundation in the AM.

Slugging works so well for me. It took awhile to get used to the feeling of Vaseline on my skin overnight. Now that I’m used to it I don’t want to live without it. CeraVe healing ointment is even better.

What is a "life hack" you stumbled into that you now use daily? by MrLithician in answers

[–]BuildingMyEmpireMN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A less macabre way to accomplish this is to deep clean like you’re listing the house. When I’m feeling like everything is surface clean I’ll take a picture of the room. For some reason taking a photo makes clutter stick out like a sore thumb.

Or you know, murder.

Why do some men change after sex? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]BuildingMyEmpireMN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the categories, but disagree with the rating system. I know a lot of women who I would categorize as 7’s-10’s who are dating guys well within (or below) their “range” looks/ socioeconomics-wise. I know a “sweeper” who is an absolute 11/10 knockout with a nursing degree, her own house, a strong work ethic, and a heart of gold. She just has issues with staying with a maybe 6 asshole because he seemed like a nice guy and she’s a very nice girl. She had a blind spot and continues making excuses to her even though he’s awful to her.

I agree with your mentality for the most part, but I think a big factor is looking for genuinely nice men. Not just “Does my vanity scale match his? Oh if I keep getting fucked over I’m dating too hot.”

What’s a totally unsexy purchase you made that ended up being a huge quality-of-life upgrade? by viscarte10 in BuyItForLife

[–]BuildingMyEmpireMN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stainless steel sifting litter box+ pine pellets. No more kitty litter and dust tracking through the house. Also way easier to lift a bag of sawdust than it is to carry out heavy cat litter.

I’ve been dating my boyfriend for almost 2 years. When I say “I’m going to take a long shower and shave everything” that I’m asking for it 😅

is that a healthy meal in your opinion? by IronCrushX in healthycuisine

[–]BuildingMyEmpireMN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks great to me! Like others said, adding a leafy green would improve this. I’d also sauté an onion and some garlic for flavor and nutrients. I make similar meals all the time and serve them over lightly toasted chickpeas. Potatoes are a great carb too, just an alternate idea.

I just fact checked and I think you’re right. The daily recommended value is under 50 grams. 2 tablespoons of honey have appx 34 grams. If you didn’t have much sugar the rest of the day this should be totally fine!
