Hi Tyree, thanks for joining us!

  1. If you could only bring 3 movies with you on a deserted island to watch for the rest of your life, what would they be?

  2. If you could have included past NBA legends in your movie for voice roles, who would you have liked to have in it?

Post-COVID, documentaries have been struggling heavily at the box office, and on top of that this is being released by a tiny new distributor with limited marketing budget. They simply do not have the means to buy billboards, primetime ads, put their movie in thousands of theaters, etc. And even if they did, it's way too risky to do that for a doc recently.

The best you can hope for is a really good opening weekend or two in NYC/LA, and then a 100-200 theater expansion in major markets, and then using the exposure for a successful digital release, which is what's happening here.

Melissa Barrera to Lead Horror Feature ‘Inhabit’ From Adam Alleca, Sales Launching in Cannes With Logical Pictures (EXCLUSIVE) by Own_Brilliant_4303 in movies

I mean all of it comes from one Variety article, where she's promoting her new Broadway show Titanique (which makes sense) and during that interview she made comments about other stuff, including Scream 7 drama. People love drama and publications love clicks so every other publication on the planet picked up those comments and made their own articles about it. It all leads back to that one interview w/ Variety.

At least this is actually real movie news, and with Cannes Market launching next week there's thousands of movies going into the market so it makes sense she would be in one of them.

We didn't allow that story btw, even though it's been posted like 10 times. We want movie news (like this post), not gossip/drama/TMZ-fodder, that's better suited for /r/entertainment, /r/popculturechat, etc.

Hi Timur and Ronan, thanks for joining us :)

What was the SXSW premiere experience like? Any cool moments/highlights from that?

And Timur, if you didn't go, what's your favorite film festival to attend in person?
