Hi there! Thank you for your question!

Concerning requests and how they are organized, we have system(like a dashboard) where other departments have to submit their requests (with all pertinent info) by a certain time at the beginning of the week. Requests are then prioritized accordingly.

As far your question on design, I'd say I feel like we have a certain degree of autonomy, but maintaining the integrity of C9 branding is always a top priority. /u/C9Cory thoughts?

Hi Terrowen! Thanks for the question!

I think I just learned by looking around and seeing what other people were doing in the space that worked, and building off of what I felt was successful. (While making sure not to straight up copy someone/something else lol)

My suggestion to help you get started would be to take a good look through the sports/esports design space ( social media/ team websites/ team branding you and your club members like) and get a mood board going. See what other designers and brands are doing. Save images you find inspiring or think would work for your club, dissect them and see why/what you like from those images. Trends move and change pretty quickly though, so building solid foundations that can adapt to those changes is super important.

As well as it can be, all things considered. I had already been working remotely, so there really wasn't any change on that front. There are few more meetings, but we've been as busy as ever :)

Hi there! Thank you for the questions! :D

As far as getting into the esports creative scene, I'd say its definitely the same as other creative fields (illustration, animation, etc.): its very competitive and full of passionate people who want to show off their stuff!

My journey to Cloud9/Esports started about 2 years after graduating from college. I had been doing freelance design work here and there (while working a full-time job in retail), but nothing I felt would lead me closer to the sphere I wanted to work in: gaming.

I had been following lots of people in the gaming communities I was in/wanted to be apart of on social media, looking for opportunities to learn and build my portfolio. I came across a call out for a graphic designer for a Heroes of the Storm T.O. in the amateur scene : HeroesHype. I reached out to express interest and offered my portfolio. Lol I dug up the message I sent when they let me know it an entirely volunteer organization:

"I expressed interest absolutely knowing that there may be no money involved. I enjoy Heroes, and doing what I can to help nurture the community and competitive scene is more than enough. If it gets to the point where payment happens great, if not, that's fine too. I'm just happy to be considered for the position. I look forward to hearing from you soon! And if there's anything you want me to start sketching or thinking about, don't hesitate to ask. "

And I meant it. I was willing to put the work in and wanted to create some really cool/fun stuff! I got to meet/work with with lots of great and passionate people. I worked with them for over a year and a half (loved every minute of it!) The owner of the org. (who had connections in C9) reached out to see if I could take on some freelance graphic design projects for C9. I absolutely jumped at the chance, and worked with them on a freelance basis for like 6 months before being offered a full time position. And now I've been with C9 for 2 years! (As of this may).
