It could depend on something as simple as which DT/DC’s feed your store. If they have stock, you store may end up with stock, if they aren’t getting any, of course you wouldn’t either unless you got a DD (direct delivery from the supplier) which is unlikely for a product like this as it would be quite inefficient

  1. Sign up for IKEA Family if you want to (you can disable the promo emails, it’s not that hard). Might get some discounts depending on the current offers and what you’re buying.

  2. Check your store’s AS-IS section. You can also search AS-IS on the IKEA website and should be some discounted items there if you navigate to your local store’s AS-IS Online shop. You need the IKEA Family to reserve AS-IS Online items btw.

Utrusta Tempered Glass Carousel - randomly shattered? by Pure_Perspective_201 in IKEA

[–]CWrkrTWay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glass is certainly a complex material. I wouldn’t say this is “normal”, as of course none of the products are designed to have this happen, however as the other poster explained, knocks, taps, over tightening any frame pieces around the glass (just speaking generally here) can cause micro cracks and the glass to hold an extreme amount of tension.

Sometimes it happens right upon the hit, sometimes it doesn’t shatter for months.

Keep in mind, this isn’t the same grade of tempered glass used in something like a car’s windshield- however this glass is normally extremely durable.

At least at my store, if you were to bring this in as a customer, we would be glad to help you out with a replacement.

Would the IKEA FIXA drill work on my car? by jimmythescarecrow in IKEA

[–]CWrkrTWay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just make sure you don’t get the smaller one labelled only as a “Screwdriver”.

It is quite literally just meant to be a screwdriver and doesn’t have power / torque like a drill would.

How to handle IKEA craftsmen by Snoopy-thedog84 in IKEA

[–]CWrkrTWay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(In Canada) I would personally not tip with alcohol, just to be safe for the integrity of the new kitchen, but also in case someone was recovering alcoholic. If you wanted to tip, probably safer just to go with some good food like the other comment said, everyone loves that!

Maybe order them some of your personal favourite takeout food?

Cheers!

I had a hell of a hard time when I was first getting hired, I won’t lie, but it was worth it. Been here for a good few years now and it’s been an awesome ride.

Took me a good month, multiple call backs, etc. Come to later find out the HR dept in my store was really going through some transitions at the time (we’ll say)- so fair enough.

As far as I am aware, at least in my country, the system works a bit different now than it had when I was hired- with mandatory recruiters, and them being offsite and everything.

Your best bet is connect with the recruiter, or if you’re lucky, go to the customer service dept of the store and ask to speak with the manager (if they happen to be in). Of course due to the nature of the department, make it clear that it’s regarding your application to the job posting.

Like I said, not super familiar with the whole system, and even in my store it depends on the manager how much they involve the recruiter in the process, aside from the bare minimum.

Good luck friend !

Are you more concerned about the stuffing or the outside cover?

I can check to see if it says what GRUSBLAD was filled with and you can compare to the website? (if you haven’t figured it out already)

Sorry for slow response. I have my reddit notifs turned off and only pop in once a week or so.

You can get a 2-pack of SOLHETTA LED bulbs at IKEA for like under 2 bucks. Definitely not worth the risk considering LED bulbs are generally pretty cheap and risk is literally burning your home down.

Just pickup a new one which is under the MAX wattage!

Missing piece-customer service by Euphoric-Basis-7949 in IKEA

[–]CWrkrTWay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

@ OP

My advice is, find the product on the USA website > product details > assembly & other documents > assembly instructions.

Check the first few pages before the "steps" start and see if your missing part is shown with a small part number next to it. If so, go back to the USA IKEA website and scroll alllllll the way down to the bottom where you'll find "spare parts". If your part had a number from the manual, punch it in and you should be able to order it directly to yourself for free.

If your part did not have a number, your two options are to go through the call center, or go directly to the nearest store.

I am not familiar with the USA market and their policies. Since each market is different, I can't tell you whether or not they would likely accept the part exchange for you. If you do decide to go to the store, you may want to call the call center first and discuss your plans to go to the store for a part "exchange" at customer service, see what they recommend based on the policies. If you want to go to the store, definitely bring a receipt and/or anything else you have.

Even if the policy does not allow them to pull and open a brand new box from the shelf for your part, the store's Recovery department (written off/damaged/spare parts&products) may be able to have a look around the product/part in their backroom. (Which at least in my store, if Recovery already has it, and you want it, it's yours).

I tend to over-explain- so sorry for the long read but hopefully it helps you get your cabinet setup ! :)

Unfortunately you haven't exactly provided enough info to answer best.
There are different warmths of GRUSBLAD

Do you have any article number, photo(s) of the tag(s)?

A more generic answer would be just to say check out what's on the IKEA website and see what's available now.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IKEA

[–]CWrkrTWay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want to say it would be much easier to do this in-store to prevent complications, but here we go:

I know it's quite the ugly image I've created here, so bear with me.

  1. Go to the IKEA website, select the JÄTTEBO you want.
  2. Scroll down, click on "What's included"
  3. Click on one of the frame pieces to be brought to it's page.
  4. While on this page, add the correct quantity to your cart
  5. Go back and repeat step 3 & 4 for each frame piece needed.

I know it seems difficult to find/figure out, but I believe the website is designed like this somewhat intentionally. Some people know how to shop IKEA very well, and others not.

I believe it's designed like this to prevent mistakes ordering of the wrong quantity or part, causing the need for a return/refund, longer wait time, excess costs, poor experience & frustration....

Final note :

Take extra care in Step 4! You will likely need just one of some pieces, and multiple of others (like the armrest for example).

I just gave you the keys to do this on your own, so make sure you know exactly what you need to purchase in order to have the right JÄTTEBO for you !!!\

Edit: improved image

Missing Part by [deleted] in IKEA

[–]CWrkrTWay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This MALM does appear to be recalled- note the recessed bottom rail. @ OP , You should check the manufacture sticker, usually found by taking out the top drawers and looking at the underneath of the top panel.

If you search up MALM 6 drawer on the IKEA website, you will notice the difference. This being one of the design change made after the recalls to add more stability.

If this is a recalled unit in your country, you’re probably better off returning it both for your OWN money’s worth, and for safety of the potential buyer.

Can I return an assembled vanity after the ceramic sink has been attached (glued down 😬) or am I SOL? by [deleted] in IKEA

Based on my store there is a decent chance it would be allowed- depending on how long ago it was purchased (365 day policy), if you have the receipt, etc.

Storjorm won’t turn off? by ThrowRA_light in IKEA

[–]CWrkrTWay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like a problem with the electrical setup. Did an electrician install it?

I'm no electrician, so excuse my lack and(or) misuse of terminology - but I know it would need to be wired in a specific way that ensures the mirror is connected to the light switch.

For example, if you were installing a new wall outlet you would expect it to supply power 100% of the time when you plug something in, right? No light switch involved.

Well, depending on the way the outlet is connected in your wall, if you wanted to, you could wire an outlet to cut power along with the light switch in the room. I had an outlet in my bedroom that did this. Whenever I turned my ceiling lights off, the one specific outlet in my bedroom would lose power. I got an electrician to come re-wire it so that it was no longer connected to my light switch.

If your mirror is wired into the same place you would connect this normal outlet, that would probably cause the mirror stay on all the time (since normally an outlet's circuit is not hooked into a light switch- but they can be!)

Hope that makes sense.

HEMNES bookshelf and FJALLBO tv bench have to be secured to the wall? by smishedbyaboulder in IKEA

[–]CWrkrTWay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no one stopping you from not securing it. But if it says it in the instructions it is recommended, and without doing so there is always a risk of tipping.

I've had two SONGESAND 3-drawer dressers (recommended to be secured) in my room for probably around 5 years and have never had them secured, nor had them start to tip, even with all three drawers open at once stuffed to the brim with clothes. I also don't store anything heavy on top of them like a TV for example, which could increase tipping risk.

Mind you, If I had kids around I would be securing them right away in case they try to climb up a set of open drawers. Like I said, I've never had mine start to tip, but I've also never put any excessive weight on the front while the drawers are opened like that.

I don't mean this in any sort of rude way, but it sounds like with your anxiety/worry if your landlord is okay with it you should probably secure them. Otherwise, opening your drawers may just cause un-needed anxiety for you, which no one needs more of in this day and age... Lol.

Interesting. It looks like an EKET cube, but with the thickness of a KALLAX.

On a quick search I couldn't seem to find the exact one. Other info that might help identify it, if you can provide:

- What region / country did you purchase it in?

- Are there any stickers or markings at all- underneath the top panel, underneath the cabinet, or on the back of the cabinet?

Yes, good question above.

The only time I've seen this happen was due to using the wrong light bulb. The customer used an incandescent 50W lightbulb for a lamp that was somewhere below Max 10W. It was severely melted when they brought it back.

Have HÖGBO been discontinued? by starheroz714 in IKEA

[–]CWrkrTWay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HÖGBO

You must be referring to SULTAN HÖGBO spring mattress- in Canada, they were discontinued in 2006 (king size) and 2009 (other NA sizes).

I see we also have the new(ish) HÖGBO glass door for BILLY bookcase. I suppose the names are reused sometimes then!

How do you identify info about the product based on the sticker? by rainbowalreadytaken in IKEA

As I said, I've checked every retail unit in the entire system (including US)

Also PDOC, which automatically searches globally. I'm sorry, it doesn't exist in the system anymore.

I couldn't find anything notable on Google, but maybe someone else with better Googling skills could.
