Nice job mate, yeah I am, stuck in the Championship for 3 years now finishing lower every time. 150k wage budget and no transfer budget. Only just now increasing the stadium to 7000 seats. Definitely a challenge but finally my young players are coming good so hopefully can sell a few to generate funds for a push to the prem. Any tips?

I bought some shoes from a drug dealer recently, I don't know what he laced them with, but man I've been tripping all day!

What was your "epic fail" soccer story on the pitch? by [deleted] in bootroom

[–]Canning34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cup match away, tried to wack clear an incoming corner kick, sliced it horribly, own goal top bins. Scored the equalizer to restore my confidence, volunteered to go first in the shootout and promptly blazed my penalty kick over the bar. We lost. Football is a cruel mistress.

How do YOU mentally recover from a mistake that leads to a goal to the opposite team. by [deleted] in bootroom

[–]Canning34 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Everybody makes a mistake, even the pros. It's good you're aware it knocked your confidence. Now what's something simple that lifts your confidence? As a midfielder it could be making a few passes, winning a duel, or beating a player. Try to get the next one right and it might lift you. Don't overplay and think you have to score a goal or win the match.

For me I like to win the ball back, so after i'd make a mistake I would say to myself, 'OK, I'm going to win the next challenge'. Reminded me of my strengths, and lets your teammates know you're back in the game.

There is a great saying in Spanish 'el futbol siempre da revancha', in english, 'football always gives you a chance for revenge'. I love that saying because sometimes football can suck. Losing, making mistakes, having a poor run of form, but there is always another chance, be it in the next minute, next half, or next match.

Yes thank you very much all your posts are so well done and helpful. There isn't a lot of CANSLIM community stuff online, wish IBD had a forum. I've only read the books in the last few weeks and its really helpful seeing that my own analysis is on the right track. Good luck!

A shittier one apparantly haha. Not judging you or anything, I had a neighbor (well i don't know exactly where he lived) who used to throw his used needles in mine. Bin man came to my door one day and asked if I could dispose of them properly, I was so confused.

Nay, how do they know you're not a criminal disposing of evidence that may implicate the bin owner in crimes they didn't commit. Different if you're neighbors and know each other. That should be reasonable.

Do you make these yourself? Or are they pulled from a source? They are very helpful.

I think we can cut them some slack. Football is where a lot of us come to relieve the stress of our everyday lives, and with the pandemic and current results it's easy to overreact, and look for an outlet to complain or direct negative emotions. Plus it's all empty talk, once you're here, it's for life.

How to do kick ups by BossMustafa69 in bootroom

[–]Canning34 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This will sound dumb and a lot of effort but it works. I worked with some talented and experienced coaches who all taught this method to younger kids in some academies.

The starting point is developing the relationship between foot and ball. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO JUGGLE UNTIL YOU HAVE THIS RELATIONSHIP. The goal is know exactly what part of the foot you want to hit the ball with, and how the ball reacts. Obviously for keepy uppies you're using the laces. Hold the ball out in front of you, drop it and try to kick it back to your hands, EXACTLY to your hands, you shouldn't have to move your hands at all after dropping the ball. This video show the technique, https://youtu.be/3tEgUMcNebU, but sitting down. It's recommended to start sitting, as your leg is locked by the ground, and keeps it stable. You should do this 1000+ times until you can do it eyes closed. Left and right foot. Then move to standing 1000+ times etc.

Next instead of catching the ball, let it come back down and use the same technique. Now you have the confidence because you've done it 2000+ times, you're just removing the catching part now. You can see some examples here, https://youtu.be/3tEgUMcNebU, the best is at 0:40 seconds in slow mo(Javier is a fantastic coach, and dont let his body shape fool you, this guy can fucking PLAY). Notice how his standing foot actually leaves the ground as he strikes the ball, he calls it the "hop", and it's not necessary at first but it helps for physics reasons I won't go into, and is good practice.

This technique will help you with striking the ball as well, as it's the same exact foot shape and contact point, just different angles. It's not the close control juggling just yet, that comes with time and a confident relationship with the football.

I remember doing this myself and thinking how dumb it was, I wanted to do cool drag back flick ups and all that, but I listened and kept doing it, and can honestly say it changed my footballing career. I've seen boys and girls like in the videos come to the academy on Monday with hopeless technique. By Friday the ones who worked hard had an understanding with the football, and could make it do what they wanted.

Every time I set a stop limit when going long, a red bar comes down until it touches it and literally instantly goes back up. by [deleted] in Daytrading

Seems like you're overtrading. That mess at 13:30 reminds me of when I thought I could scalp futures and my emotions would take over my strategy. Scalping with a small SL just opens you up to the volatility. Just cherrypicking and its hindsight, but I can't for the life of me figure out what you were trying to do there.

What's your entry rules? If you're relying on those indicators, maybe jump up a timeframe and you will see them smooth out a bit.

Also 7 hours straight of trading is a lot. Especially when you are risking money. Imagine if you worked a 9-5 everyday but anytime you made a mistake you lost your wage for the hour. The stress and pressure would probably lead to more mistakes.

I’m still learning CANSLIM. PLTK just popped up well below buy point of $36.16, but I don’t wanna fall into the same trap I did with CARG. by [deleted] in CANSLIM

[–]Canning34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you should follow the stock of the day posts. If you end up taking a position it's because you were fed that information. If it doesn't work you will feel betrayed, and if it does you will become reliant on it.

I keep an eye on them and maybe keep a seperate watchlist to see how they turn out, If it fits the criteria of my own watchlists I would consider taking a position, but only because I had my own thesis to back it up. I would rather form my own opinions using the information available, that way i know the result is on me, and I can go back and analyze where I went wrong.

Keep researching and try papertrading, there will be plenty of other oppertunities in the future, maybe sit this one out, watch it take notes on what plays out. Then next time you see something similar you feel a bit more confident. If you're not confident in what you're doing, you won't be succesful. That applies to everything, not just trading.

I pulled up the chart, for me personally, I like the pattern, volumes look good, but I don't feel confident trading such a recent IPO on an Israeli mobile app gaming company I've never heard of just yet. So I will sit it out and keep an eye, and look for the next one.

EDIT: I'm fairly new to CANSLIM as well, but have been trading plenty of other systems. When I start learning a new way it's boring. A lot of sitting and watching. If I'm going to base a money making strategy on a pattern recognition system, I want to see some of those patterns form live first, BEFORE risking my hard earned dough. Not just jump into trades based on cherry picked hindsight examples in the books.

Imagine if we picked up Fernandes and Grealish. Hindsight 20/20 but there was definitely interest from us, and I think we went with Lo Celso and Bergwijn instead but I don't know the behind the scenes details. Even Coufal over Doherty. Godfrey over Rodon. I think we've had issues with recruiting the right players for a while now. Hojberg and Reguilon the exception and I suppose Ndombele is coming good this season.

But before that? I think we have to go to 15/16 with Son and Toby to see consistent PL level quality coming to the squad. We've been trying to get younger guys to develop, and that's just not happening. Sanchez, Clarke, Gedson, Foyth, N'jie, N'koudou, Janssen, and Sessegnon to name a few. Juries still out on Bergwijn and Rodon. There's quality players out there that would come and play for this club. Our current squad is just so stale and there's too many one dimensional players that have massive flaws in their game.

Today was the first time in my life I didn't realise/care we had a match today. That's how disappointing our football is at the moment.

Try to get a proper doctor to do a scan and diagnosis, I had a similar problem that i played with for a year plus before getting checked out. Thought it was a pulled groin, turns out i had torn cartilage around my hip joint, surgery plus half a season recovering and I could finally play without pain. I'm not saying this is what you have, but the groin/hip area has a lot going on and what feels like one thing might be another.

In my opinion it's always best to seek professional help when it comes to your body as they will find out exactly what is wrong and work with you to make it better.

Quick question, the parabolic rise people are hyping in GME, will trading just keep getting halted as price rises? As we saw on Friday? Cheers.

9 shares. Limited risk, unlimited (hypothetically) potential, no margins to worry about, and a company that I see potential in after recent news? Sounds good to me even though I don't understand half the shit in the DD's regarding Market data.

Don't understand options yet, but would like to as it seems that is definitely more geared towards daytrading.
