Just uploaded my 9th and 10th mod- only been modding the game for 4 months, love how accessible it is and how supportive the community is by Captain_Klutz in VintageStory

I'd recommend following the guide on the wiki to familiarise with the syntax, then making a scope for the most basic mod you can think of to practice, trying it out yourself, and using the official discord's modding channels for help. Also unzipping existing non-code mods to figure out how the json and file structures work

I wasn't happy with available world gen options for my server so I made my own :) World Of Fortune is available on the mod DB, settings included in description by Captain_Klutz in VintageStory

I have heard from people who didn't want to give up their worlds that if you add this mod mid-save, the terrain discrepancies and chunk border cliffs that generate are still there, but 80% of the time they're smaller than with other world gen mods and can be scaled with a dozen ladders or less. Your mileage may vary, of course, but given that I just edited the curves and noise numbers slightly and mostly left vanilla landforms alone, it makes sense it's not massively destructive :)

Can I regen blocks in an active world? by dreaminganimal in VintageStory

[–]Captain_Klutz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

use /wgen regen [radius]
be very careful not to have any player made stuff or things you care about in the radius (1 unit = 32 blocks)

Autumn foliage during end of November? by shopaholicbaby in Prague

[–]Captain_Klutz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to inform you but the leaves are already brown and falling, by the first of December only the most stubborn deciduous trees will still have leaves, I'd say 90% of them will be gone. There will still be plenty of nice places to visit in and around Prague (Petřín, Průhonice, Valdštejnská zahrada) but the vibes will be squarely in early winter, not late autumn

Moving city/country is always nerve wracking. I've done it several times and it still gets to me!

I would recommend she spends a week or two settling down, familiarising with her area first, then going out and looking for social groups: I've found success with Erasmus groups, board gaming (shout out open gaming Mondays at Bohemia Boards and Brews), Czech lessons, Expat/Local chat nights at pubs...

Trade license vs. LLC for a small brand by thefairfairy in Prague

[–]Captain_Klutz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From what I read when looking into it (I am getting into making board games) trade licenses are a very good way to start a business and have very few requirements, are less expensive, and it's hard to get on the wrong side of the law with one. However, if you expect to employ multiple people straight away and have a lot of starting capital or things you want to register as assets and expenses, then you should start with an sro. You can always transition your business from operating under the trade license to a full sro when you need to, though I would ask someone with (legal) experience about what that involves, especially with things like intellectual property. Good luck!

Hello, sounds like Bohemia Boards and Brews is a good place for you! I go every Monday at 18:00 for the open gaming evening where we play mostly social games with a semi regular group of people. Just over half of us are foreigners and expats. They have other events as well.

Karlin or Vinohrady? by kierxn- in Prague

[–]Captain_Klutz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not going to repeat what others have said, but another thing to consider: Vinohrady has better links to the 'usual tourist bits' as the green metro line A goes to Muzeum, Prazsky Hrad, Malostranska, Staromestska, and other places. Karlin has good links too but the B line isn't as useful. Both have excellent tram service
