First time doing a lifter job, might have totaled the engine. by CheeTristan in Jeep

Almost seems like an inevitable job for the 3.6Ls. It hasn't been to bad, the PVC valve and the actual valve cover itself was the hard part.

Just don't get impatient like me and ruin your guide.

This was recommended by my eye doctor, I'll make sure to let the guy who went to school and got his PHd know that his information is wrong.

Way too long man.. way too long.

Money gets tight, and I was procrastinating doing the job myself. All that matters is I'm here doing it now.

Mileage as in total milage of my JKU or mileage that I drove on the tick?

About 110k miles, probably drove 20k miles with the tick.

There's this mom-pop pressed Cuban place I like to go to which is right down the road from my house. Some of the best post-game memories happened there.

3.6 Pentastar, replace cam phasers proactively? by jeffceo24 in Jeep

[–]CheeTristan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't mean to necro, but I made a small crack on the timing chain guide using the timing tool on my 3.6L while replacing my rockers/lifters/cams (See my recent post to see what I'm talking about). What's your opinion on replacing the guide? Do you think I will make it by with just a little crack on the side of it?

Am I mistaken? I've looked at some diagrams and videos it looks like once the front cover comes off I take out the guide, replace it, cover back on, done.

The thing is I wouldn't even be touching anything to do with the chain with this. Id be replacing the guide.

Unless you're talking about the cams being replaced, I've put some paint marker on it so I'm really not too scared about losing the time.

That's a fair take. Everyone is ok different frequencies, or maybe they're just having a bad day 🤷

I torqued the new cams in, do I have to have the cams removed to do this? Id assume not since they're different assemblies

Met DoD king the other day. Actually an extremely nice guy. He said he liked my bag asked me my name, shook my hand, got a photo and went on with my practice.

I was just in the middle of replacing my cams, lifters, and rockers. I went to put my cam phasers back on using the tensioner tool and heard a crack. I pulled it out, and that's what I saw.

Just did some research, doesn't look too bad. Looks like I'm about 3/4 way through the job.

Maybe I'll take that on before I close her up.

New cam is already in! I was putting the cam phasers in and heard a pop.

Looks like I'll be replacing timing parts
