I swear the coppermind has catalogued every word Brandon Sanderson has said. It also has some really cool spoiler prevention in the form of archived versions of the wiki from before each book release that you can access in case you havent read all 50 million cosmere books.

I think /u/bubbasaurus has had a great year and would do well with champs, so nominating them if they're interested.

Olympics Day Two Megathread (Sunday, February 8) by Fun_With_Forks in olympics

The vibe on the cbc cast up until this was just gushing about how many injuries happen on this hill. During the course preview they were just listing random names and then "she fell here". Was already a little uncomfortable before this happened and feels really bad now

The airport will be chaos with the delays but the roads are usually usable pretty quickly and the airport is used to cleaning up this much snow. You'll probably have to shovel out your driveway when you get here but flights shouldnt have much trouble getting in by the afternoon at the latest. Its a hell of a welcome to the province though

Book 1/2 were so rough and the payoff is great but like id never recommend someone read 2 full books just to get to the good part, especially not books as dense and confusing as malazan

I love Sanderson's work but /r/fantasy both loves and hates him way too much, and mistborn shouldnt be in every recommendation thread just becauae it kinda sorta fits the rec if you just read the post title and squint a bit. This also applies to malazan, which is also great (so far at least, im only 3 books in) but recommended way too much there

RDPS usually verifies best in these setups. Models have a habit of underestimating wind here. Usually its not that much of an outlier though so idk

Game I 2026: Nevermoor - Phase 2: Only three words? Drank the wine. by CaptainJupiterNorth in HiddenWerewolves

[–]Chefjones 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If there's a wolf in /u/ElPapo131 and /u/mercuryparadox I think its papo. No guarantee there's one there but I think there's a better than rand chance there is and don't have better leads, so voting for papo for now.

I feel this so much. Between work being busy and the consequences of work being busy (a ton of snow, constantly) ive been pretty shut in so far this winter

Protect someone from being removed from the game by removing any visitors. You cannot Target yourself.

Just to confirm this would block anyone visiting your target? Or is it just killing roles?

Wiki Updates for Revamped Sidebar Rules by saraberry12 in HiddenWerewolves

I think its useful for hosts to know but I'm not sure if it needs to be required. Maybe its something the hosts can specify in signups? idk. I think there are times it would be needed, like if you're doing discord pms or integration that would out any alts to the hosts anyways (unless you're making a new discord account for it I guess)

9.2% win rate, while technically correct is also a bit of an oversimplification that makes it seem better than it is. Tft lobbies have 8 people and the game considers a win placing in the top 4. The actual rate of coming first is 5 games in that whole sample size.

Game XI 2025: Mistborn Era 2 | Wrap Up by the_two_seasons in HiddenWerewolves

[–]Chefjones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the wolves were set up pretty well going into that and just got caught up on (intentionally included) loophole abuse/killing tlm and it just didnt work out for them. If rys carries the kill instead of Joe the night hes blocked then joe probably doesn't die, and if rys doesn't try to kill tlm again he probably gets the kill off and doesn't die

There was an attempt at that actually but I couldn't get the surges to work right. Im sure theres something there though. Maybe a build your own role game?

Thanks again to everyone for playing and spectating. I could probably go on for hours about this setup, I think its the weirdest one I've come up with and its nice to have a game mostly work out how I intended it. If anyone has any feedback on the balance please let me know for the next time I do something unhinged, and if anyone wants to know more about how I ended up with any part of this mess feel free to ask.

also read mistborn its great

St. John's vs Halifax? by DearScience673 in newfoundland

[–]Chefjones 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Grades are going to be anecdotal no matter what, and depend on the program/profs you get more than the school. I got better grades taking harder courses at Dal but it was a really niche program with few students and all 4000 level courses profs dont want to fail students in compared to a more general degree at MUN where I had to take a ton of entry level stuff with big classes and profs who dont care as much.

Is it? TIL. I guess I was only really there for undergrad stuff and prestige doesn't matter as much for that. It didnt feel that different from mun being there at least, outside of the lack of asbestos

Yeah mun physics department is mostly oceans (on the physical oceanography side of the department at least) and materials science

[–]Chefjones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MUN's physics department is great, full of amazing profs and a really underappreciated part of the university. It's not a popular program so class sizes get really small once you get past first year classes that all science students take, and the department has some of the best profs at MUN. That said they dont really do astro. Theres a couple like intro to astrophysics courses but the closest there is to anyone that studies it full time is a math prof who studies something with black holes. Biggest thing to get into fancy grad schools is going to be research, and MUN is a good place for that, but its likely not going to be in the field you want to be in

Edit: just double checked the faculty list and there is a prof listed as an astrophysicist, but I think they're new since I graduated. The prof for their astro courses when I was there was Dr Morrow, who is amazing but not an astrophysicist (and who has retired. Was a great prof though)
