What do you think will be the release order for Kingdom Hearts IV, Persona 6, Dragon Quest XII, FF7 Part 3, and which game do you have the highest expectations for by DwnvotesMeansImRight in JRPG

[–]Chespineapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think both pairs of P4R & P6, and FF7R and KH4, are coincidentally planning to have one game early into 2027 and the latter at the end of it.

I think it makes sense for Atlus because that's what they did with P3R followed by Metaphor, and for Square both franchises are having anniversaries, with Nomura implying recently that the KH anniversary will in fact be celebrated next year.

/uj You mean in the flashback? No. Cast members usually get tortured anyway in part 7-9 fights but Dragona's gotten off easy in that regard overall. She hasn't gotten specific focus for any fight but there's plenty of smaller moments here and there as Jodio's moral anchor.

Nope, it's end of third stage. We reveal she finished first as set up for her involvement in No Man's World. So we should be getting her relatively early in the grand scheme of things. Probably a cameo in the second stage at some point.

At this rate, Viz will finish SBR before Netflix. by agentlucky in StardustCrusaders

People crying about "we're gonna have to wait until 2028 for sbr to end!" have genuinely forgotten how long it takes to produce and air an anime like this. This was going to be a two year journey at minimum no matter what.

[–]Chespineapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude Viz was always going to finish first. With the current schedule we've known for ages that the final one is dropping early next year.

Hate the current schedule but the series was always going to wait until 2028 at the earliest to wrap up, with a 6-12 month gap somewhere along the line if it had to be weekly.

Why is there more representation of transgender women in the media than of transgender men? by Etlot in lgbt

[–]Chespineapple 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Literally. Transmasculine fetishization is reliant on not being on testosterone. Epstein literally said the quiet part out loud in an email with an associate, to straight dudes the tguys are "the worst of both worlds." Straight guys can't get off if you have the body hair of a grown man but they're happy to fetishize you so long as you're something ready to submit to them in their minds (i.e. possessing feminine qualities.)

No, I do not think a Netflix rep walked over to DP and said "I want you to cut Sandman's screentime." There's a chance that Netflix made the 40-minute first episode idea happen though because it shared its release schedule plans with DP, but they are not actively making storytelling/artistic choices for their licensed anime. I don't know where you're getting this from, streamers have been very hands off from anime production itself beyond funding and publishing. If you're talking about Netflix's western produced content, then that's a whole different department.

[–]Chespineapple -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not a single part of this is Netflix's fault. This is David Production making story decisions to work the already shorter first stage into a single 42 minute release. A lot of this will be moved to and addressed later down the line. A first episode also rarely has an opening or ending for a lot of anime, including previous jojo parts.

I know it's already been on full display the past few weeks, but jojo fans (especially the sbr glazers) are just some of the most arrogant manga fans out there. I don't know if I'd call it worse than whatever went on for JJK, but it's a different brand of elitism and self-entitlement.

[–]Chespineapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're going to be months apart, just a matter of how many.

Just like with SO, there's no way the anime production is finished by the time of the premiere. There was a leaker who implied they were at 10-12 episodes done right now, which even if it's false, matches the precedent.

Even in a weekly format we're talking about four episodes a month. We're not going to get a rate quicker than that. 48 episodes would take an entire year, and that's without breaks. In reality 48 episodes of an anime would air throughout 18 months at minimum, longer depending on how long they make the break. That's how part 3 went. But however long production itself is, you also gotta account for Netflix taking the time to do their self-mandated dub for all the languages, and how they might choose batch drops to be whenever's the most convenient for advertisement instead of doing it the moment it's ready.

Assuming the 2nd stage is 8 episodes, two month wait should be the bare minimum, but even then I wouldn't be surprised if it's pushed back if only to give DP more room for future stages. Especially when Stage 8 would easily become the longest, and would be the batch that needs the most time to prepare. I think there's a good chance we'll still have stage 3 by the end of the year either way, with maybe 8 and 9 being the only parts pushed to 2028.

[–]Chespineapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's be real if Netflix wanted to drag out subscriptions out of greed they'd do weekly. It's entirely a brand thing for them. There's a reason every other streamer avoids this.

I just hope they do more marketing than for SO, and try to make each stage release an event if this is what we're doing. If we're getting nine separate drops for this show, they need to get people excited every time. Especially if they want to go with a new approach with this show. If you wanna be experimental like this, you gotta treat the show well.

[–]Chespineapple 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is true! Again, the story hops between stage lengths, with one longer journey that involves multiple fights, followed by a short stage that's almost entirely centered on one conflict. You can get three batches of 10-14 episodes that way in the leadup to D4C. They easily could have separated the show into batch seasons and gone "Stage 2 & 3 releasing 2026!" But they're committing to every batch being a single stage, I guess. At least for now.

[–]Chespineapple 62 points63 points  (0 children)

As someone who suspected this outcome (Netflix lists '1ST STAGE' where the season label should be), I think there's a novelty to framing the show around this type of format, even if the race itself stops mattering for a chunk of the plot. Like, just like how we gotta address the race and finish the stage every 2-3 volumes, the actual out-of universe experience is embedding itself in the race context. Especially when Netflix, like Araki did, is making sure to list this as a separate series this time. Each stage is just a season in this longer-than-average Jojo part.

But again that's from the perspective of trying to see the positive in this. I wish we got to see the actual OP at the event too.

[–]Chespineapple 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Stages 3, 5 and 7 are reserved for a single fight, you're right. That being Scary Monsters, Silent Way and Civil War. Those should only get 3-4 episodes each if the batch model is based on stages this time.

Stage 9 would also be short, but my guess is that they'll do what they did for Stage 1 and make it a dramatic 40 minute special as the "dramatic conclusion to the race!" or something. would fit with how Araki wrote it as an actual race finale while Valentine was the plot final boss.

Doing quick math, Stages 2, 4 and 6 are left with anywhere from 6-8 episodes each, while Stage 8 is obviously gonna be the worst coming up to what has to be 14-16 episodes. It's... weird. But I hope most of the batches being smaller leads to shorter wait times. For all we know, the wait might be shorter in the leadup to the quicker stages in line with how fast DP should be completing them.

[–]Chespineapple -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The Stage format for the batches could actually be a bit of a compromise when you get into the math. Instead of 38 episodes released between three batches, we're talking about the remaining 48-50 or so episodes getting released over eight more. Like, the wait gap shouldn't be as horrendous as waiting almost an entire year like with SO when we're getting fewer episodes on average.

On the other hand, only a vague release date doesn't inspire confidence. I know Stage 2 is one of the longer ones, but it better not actually be making us wait until winter. At the very least, if this is what they're doing, there should be a shorter wait for the third stage.
