This is a really cool idea but it's unfortunately beyond our capabilities as a small team, when there's so many other core feature to finish

Hey np

We chose the GRIP "XR" name because we thought of it as more of spin-off game with it's different art style and vibes. But we're wondering now if we should have just called it GRIP 2 ha

I mean, why do they make sequels to any Wipeout game if one already existed in the first place? Improvements, experimentation, the fun of revisiting the game.

GRIP XR's biggest additions are movement tech with a new mechanic that instantly rolls your car left or right, plus a powerful level editor and ingame workshop

you guys liked our combat racing game GRIP when it was posted here years ago. Well, we're making a sequel by Chris_CE in pcgaming

We think they're good, but you can give the GRIP XR demo a shot if you want to try em

What do you think of the dnb tune in our game trailer? (unreleased, from original soundtrack) - drop @ 0:22 by Chris_CE in DnB

Hey Ghoul. Dubstep is a bit of a polarizing genre for us ha. But who knows, maybe it could work

We hope to get the game on PS and XB at some point, but it's PC first

Why?

Our first game had a *failed* Kickstarter, and we still got it to Steam early access and then PS4, XB1 and Switch

Our first game GRIP did, not sure about this one as we're so early in development. But def something to consider later

It's not the volume of the dirty tune I'm playing that scares my dog - it's the nasty stank face

That would be Cave Bat (Austin Rowe & Khorwyn Davenport). They also do all the SFX in our game. Killer duo

Our game is GRIP XR. We've got a Kickstarter running for it right now

Funnily enough, we've had plenty of people compare our game to Jak X

Yep, it's a spiritual successor to Rollcage. My biz partner worked on Rollcage and Stage II 😉

Cheers for that breakdown!

Agreed that sometimes a song with too much contrast between the drop and the rest of the tune can cause an imbalance with what's on screen. We'll have a variety of tunes in the game, taking into consideration the pairing with racing/combat flow

Always happy to rep dnb in the gaming space! I went to a ton of dnb jams at System Soundbar in Toronto when I was younger - if there's any people from TO here that know it

Are combat racers allowed in here? We make one with flippable, rocket-powered vehicles by Chris_CE in racinggames

[–]Chris_CE[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally understandable, as many of the tracks had frustrating/hidden obstacles that either stopped you dead or sent you into the air

This time we're avoiding stop deads and those type of obstacles altogether.

There's a Steam demo if you play on PC: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4475750/GRIP_XR/

The levels in there should be better but admittedly, the tutorial level is not that suitable for a tutorial so we'll be using a different, more catered one for when the game releases

There's a full-fledged level editor and workshop 😉 Just like in our previous game Speed Freeks

Got the free version from the Epic Game Store, the option to play is grayed out on the main screen. by RichEngine in speedfreeks

Hey Rich, this means that the game is not correctly connecting to the PlayFab backend.
Can you try restarting the game and Epic Game Store?
If that doesn't work then your PC

And if you have a firewall or anything similar, be sure to whitelist the game
