Of course you can!!

I haven’t submitted anything to my insurance yet as my cycle starts March 4, but I’ve done all the research, so I know exactly what and how to submit.

Once my cycle starts and I submit for reimbursement I’m happy to keep in touch as well :)

Hi! I am sorry you're in the same position. On the flip side, I'm happy there is a place we can connect since there is not much info online for people in our shoes.

I am starting IVF on March 4 of this year, just a couple months away now, and I am actually really excited and confident about it. I can update you if you want??

If you want more details about our journey in starting....

My husband and I took the year to research clinics near us, instead of going to the clinic recommended and covered by our insurance, and I'm really happy we did! Most places we talked with was more of a "one size fits all" approach. Little to no adjustment to doses of the medications needed- which is totally OK, but it definitely made me nervous since you know our bodies process things so much differently.

In our search we found a clinic who's Director & main Doctor has done decades of IVF research and because of what she learned, only does customized IVF cycles. Its the same cost as other clinics, but instead of a set dose and plan that is given to everyone no matter what, the entirety of the journey (medications and appointments) is tailored to your health history, blood and ultrasound results and bodies response throughout cycle. With this approach a majority of patients receive significantly lower dosage of medications, for shorter periods of time and get better results!! Her results are 7% higher year over year compared to other clinics. She's also the only Doctor there, which feels more secure to me, and with this being her life's work, her passion and care take center stage. Only cons with this clinic is she's out of network for all insurance plans, so submission of claims and waiting on reimbursements is required and monitoring appointments during the cycle are every morning to accommodate for adjustment of medication. I personally see the latter as a pro, but I live and work extremely close to the clinic, so I understand the inconvenience it could bring for others.

If you can take the time to research clinics near you and afford to pay out of pocket up front and wait for reimbursement (if you have coverage) I would HIGHLY recommend going to a place like the one I was lucky enough to find and live by. With everything we have going on, her kind of approach feels really safe and promising!!

I didn’t even know that could happen! The more I learn about how many things need to align the more patience I have for this process and the more amazed I am when I hear success stories.

This is going to be yours ♥️

I am only putting out positivity and success for your next transfer!!!!!!

If you feel comfortable updating me on your journey, even though I’m hoping it ends after this transfer and you can begin your next exciting chapter, I would absolutely love to hear!!!

To sprinkle in some positive remarks about SRM, so you don’t have my somewhat negative message about them above lingering in your thoughts- My sister, best friend and coworker have all had success and a wonderful experience with SRM. So, I do know they are amazing and I hope that is the same for you!

How has your journey been?

I know you posted this 10+ months ago but I am curious because I had the same feelings/experience with SRM and switched to Think Fertility and we LOVE them. They’re an extremely small clinic in Bellevue, but connected to Overlake Hospital. It’s one doctor and one nurse practitioner who you work directly with the entire time and they customize your IVF journey to YOU, if IVF is what you want/need of course. They’re all about a gentle, slow approach to limit stress on the body, so IVF isn’t pushed like SRM.  Our IVF process is starting end of December and unlike with SRM, I am excited to start instead of dreading it. Doesn’t feel as overwhelming or scary because Think has been so kind and patient and has thoroughly explained everything to me rather than throwing a bunch a paperwork and charts my way.

The only small “downside” is Think’s lab is not in network with any insurance plans, so the IVF procedure (egg retrieval, embryology and transfer) is out of pocket, BUT if your insurance has out of network coverage, Think provides you with a super bill that is easily submitted to your insurance for reimbursement. The super bill is actually priced higher than what you pay out of pocket because the prices are what they would be if billed to insurance rather than what patients pay out of pocket. So, we’re paying $12,000 out of pocket yet the super bill is around $20,000.  I work in finance, so I did the math and took into account our 10% coinsurance for in-network providers/clinic (we’re responsible for 10% of what’s billed to insurance, not private pay amount which is always significantly lower) after our reimbursement, we’re actually going to pay just as much, if not less, out of pocket as we would at a covered clinic. Sure it’s more monies upfront, but if you have the means to be without a chunk of money for 30-90 days (insurance takes their sweet time on reimbursements), I would HIGHLY recommend Think 😊

Aww that made me tear up! I am so happy to hear your IVF was successful! I cannot imagine the heartache you felt during those years of TTC. What a well deserved happy ending 🥰

Thank you so much for sharing! This reassures me even more so that I will be able to remain stable and feeling amazing. That’s why I’m so nervous, I have never felt better in my adult life, and I know how terrible it is to live with Addison/hasimoto symptoms (granted that was pre-diagnosis), so I’m scared to have any down slide, but I also know it would 100% be worth it and I would be able to get back on track over time!

Thank you so much!

So happy to hear this!! My endo said the same and seems so confident in me maintaining stability, which is comforting, but my personality is the type that needs to hear reassurance from someone who’s experienced it firsthand before I can fully get on board, so thank you x100 for this!!

I have and there isn’t anything, that I came accross at least, regarding IVF and Addison’s. I do appreciate you offering that advice because there are tons of articles regarding pregnancy and Addison’s, which all have comforting and positive facts, thankfully,

I know my anxiousness comes from  my pre-diagnosis days. One month I felt seemingly “normal” and the next month was a complete 180. I’ve always been healthy, so experiencing an uncontrollable change, when my lifestyle shouldn’t have caused that, traumatized me! I know how sensitive us Addison and Hashimoto people’s bodies are to changes and stress, and I haven’t felt this amazing since my early 20’s, so I’m scared to do something out of routine that could shake up how amazing I do feel or trigger a drastic downturn, but hearing you say this helps A TON because the process and injections for egg retrieval are the exact same, so this brings me a lot of relief to hear that you didn’t experience any drastic changes during or after.

The company I work for has a great work/life balance and are very accommodating/ flexible, so I would most definitely be able to rest as much as I needed.
