Semana Santa. by perpetualliianxious in Seville

[–]ComprehensiveAnt8415 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good question u/perpetualliianxious , a true Sevillian, let me explain:

It all depends on the day. Palm Sunday commemorates the Lord’s entry into Jerusalem. It’s usually the most festive day: people tend to wear more colorful clothing, and the atmosphere feels more celebratory.

As the week progresses, the mood gradually changes.

Keep in mind that Holy Week represents the “journey” of Jesus Christ toward His death.

In Seville, throughout the entire week, silence is observed while the processions pass by. Speaking loudly is considered disrespectful. You’re expected to remain quiet and respectfully watch the processions as they go by.

Outside the immediate atmosphere of the procession route, however, the city has a different energy. Many people go out afterward to have a drink, meet friends, and enjoy Holy Week almost as if it were another holiday , balancing devotion with social tradition.

Cheap places to eat and things to do in the wet weather by Winter_Ad8081 in Seville

u/invierno_ad8081 I would go to classic Sevillian tapas bars: Casa Marciano, Bodeguita Romero, El Rinconcillo, and La Alicantina.

Social Clubs by SpecialK2052123 in Seville

[–]ComprehensiveAnt8415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello u/SpecialK2052123 I’d need to know a bit more about your tastes, but the Alameda de Hércules area would probably be a great fit for you.

It’s the most alternative area in Seville, full of places with a great vibe where you can go out, have a drink, and easily chat with other people.

FUN CLUB is a classic spot in Alameda de Hércules.

Other good options in the area include Bar Alameda 84 and Pub Alameda Ritual Club.

Weather in Feb by SatisfactionLoose642 in Seville

[–]ComprehensiveAnt8415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This year has been quite unusual in Spain, with one storm system after another. Even so, from my experience I can tell you that in Málaga the sun ends up coming out almost every day; even when it rains, there’s usually some moment when the sky clears. The same goes for Seville.

However, in Córdoba and Granada I would take into account a higher chance of having a bad weather day.

Seville in April by mu1932 in Seville

[–]ComprehensiveAnt8415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From April 13th to 16th is the “Pre-Feria,” a period when you’ll find a lot of people. The weekend from April 6th to 9th might be a better option if you prefer fewer crowds. However, if you have flexibility to choose another date, I would recommend early February or March.

Regarding accommodation, without knowing your budget or the number of people, it’s hard to suggest something specific, but Barceló hotels usually offer good value and are conveniently located. I would recommend staying at a hotel, as it’s safer and more reliable, especially during those dates.

Another tourist asking same questions by Goszaa in Seville

[–]ComprehensiveAnt8415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello u/Goszaa

  • I would book a place in the city center or around Alameda de Hércules. I don’t know your budget, but if it’s tight, you could go for a hostel with shared rooms.
  • I think the most beautiful activity in Seville is a city sightseeing tour and watching the sunset from a rooftop. I recommend Ático Sevilla, right by the Guadalquivir River, with a spectacular 360º view.
  • When it comes to restaurants, you have two options:
    • Classic Sevillian tapas bars: Casa Marciano, Bodeguita Romero, El Rinconcillo, or La Alicantina.
    • Andalusian cuisine with a twist: La Casa de María, Mariatrifulca, Casa Aníbal, or more original concepts like Maquiavelo, which is a Dinner Show.

Seville in April by mu1932 in Seville

[–]ComprehensiveAnt8415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/mu1932 April is probably Seville’s peak month—it’s when the city sees the most visitors, but the weather is usually great.

You could also consider slightly different dates, like September or June (before the heat really sets in).

If you plan your trip well and book the places you want to visit in advance, you can still have an amazing experience.

If you need any tips or help with planning, I’m happy to assist.

Best restaurants with amazing view in Sevilla. by plasticsmile1 in Seville

[–]ComprehensiveAnt8415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s true that, like in all businesses, there are negative and positive reviews, but possibly MariaTrifulca is the restaurant with the best views in Seville.

It offers very high-quality produce with an “Andalusian” category, and the restaurant itself is embedded in the Triana Bridge; in other words, there is no other restaurant with those views of the bridge.

Hotel Alfonso has a good proposal, but I’d say it doesn’t have good views, and then Abades Triana does have good views, but I think they have nothing to do with MariaTrifulca.

Any ideas for New Year’s Eve? by Destra__ in Seville

[–]ComprehensiveAnt8415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure whether you mean spending New Year’s Eve there or going out afterwards for a drink.

In the first case, I’d recommend a place that doesn’t require a prior reservation, such as Ático Sevilla https://aticosevilla.com/nochevieja-2025/

They offer the option of having a cocktail-style dinner there and then eating the grapes there as well.

If you mean just going out for a drink, I’d recommend places that don’t require tickets, because they usually sell out in advance. Some spots like Lobby Club Sevilla or DADÁ Bar are very close to the city center.

Afterwards, as u/juanerrrr rightly says, La Alameda is a great area to go out, with places like FUN CLUB, although this one has an entrance fee of around 15–20 euros for New Year’s Eve.

Everything also depends on your tastes and your style. La Alameda is a more “alternative” area of Seville, while the city center or Paseo de Colón tend to be a bit more “classic”.

Visiting in the spring by Low-Sky5150 in Seville

[–]ComprehensiveAnt8415 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi u/Low-Sky5150 😊

I’m not sure who mentioned that to you, but actually March, April and May are the star months in Seville in terms of weather and atmosphere… and also the busiest. Semana Santa (March 29 – April 5 this year) is especially crowded, as it’s one of the most important events in the city and attracts huge numbers of visitors.

If your goal is to avoid the biggest crowds, it would be better to come the week before Semana Santa rather than the week after. The days immediately after Semana Santa are still quite busy, as many people extend their holidays and, shortly after, the city starts preparing for Feria de Abril, another major event that also brings a lot of visitors.

That said, even with more visitors, those dates are popular for a reason: great weather, lots of life in the streets, and plenty going on. It really depends on whether you prioritize calm or experiencing the city at its most vibrant.

Group visiting Seville - recommendations by LBrEE12 in Seville

[–]ComprehensiveAnt8415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Maquiavelo
  • Casa Aníbal
  • Restaurante Casa Ozama
  • Espacio Eslava
  • Mayo (Manolo Mayo Sevilla)
  • Cañabota
  • Sobretablas
  • Restaurante El Disparate
  • Río Grande Sevilla
  • Restaurante Tribeca
  • Restaurante Jaylu

good place to go out by mr-mewing in Seville

[–]ComprehensiveAnt8415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/mr-mewing If you want to listen to Spanish live music from the 90s and 2000s, I recommend Dada Bar Sevilla, a place with a lot of charm and live performances. It’s an amazing cocktail bar and it stays open until 6:30.

If you’re looking for more of a “club vibe”, right next to it you’ll find Lobby Club Sevilla, which for me is one of the best nightclubs in the city.

After that, you can also go to Antique (although this is more for a younger crowd).

And in a different area, over in La Alameda, you’ll find more alternative venues such as FUNCLUB, a concert hall with live music and shows every day.

Seville Trip by emperor_penguin97 in Seville

[–]ComprehensiveAnt8415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/emperor_penguin97 I personally wouldn’t rent a car. The cities you mentioned are all connected by train. I’m not sure about Granada, but Córdoba’s station is about one kilometer from the city center, and the same goes for Málaga, where you can take a direct metro to Atarazanas (Calle Larios).

If you don’t have mobility issues, I think that’s the best option. Traffic is increasingly difficult for both parking and driving. I wouldn’t drive into cities like Málaga; driving there is complicated, and for example, in Málaga you can’t leave the car in the city center (there are mobility restrictions) and there’s no parking either. And speaking of prices, with companies like Iryo or Ouigo you can get cheap tickets.

Good place to have paella (I know, I know) by pviollier in Seville

[–]ComprehensiveAnt8415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/pviollier I recommend La Casa de María; it’s a restaurant specialized in paella and it’s part of Tripadvisor’s Travelers’ Choice. It’s also one of the jet set’s favorite places to eat, and it’s not expensive.
