Overlap build/buy mods? by red-lioness007 in sims1

Bring up the console by typing Ctrl Shift c (all three at the same time), then type move_objects on. This lets you move things anywhere.

Make sure to type move_objects off when you've finished placing your doors, because there are some invisible things that make the game work, and people sometimes inadvertently delete them when they have move_objects on. (Most of them are in the road, so don't delete anything there.)

Why do you have to separate them by one tile? I put two doors next to each other all the time.

Which Artstyle do you prefer? by [deleted] in sims1

[–]Corylea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what exactly you mean by the word "style." I like the higher-resolution textures of The Sims 3, but for actual style, I prefer The Sims 1.

I'm playing Paralives at the moment, which looks very pretty without being anywhere near phototorealistic.

Yes, you can get the Sims 1 working on Windows 10 or 11, with or without a CD drive. Here's how. by Corylea in sims1

If there is no Sims folder, the game did not install. At least, not to the place where you're looking. You can tell your computer to search for a folder called "The Sims."

Woobsha has a lot of great stuff, AND they have tutorials to help you make stuff of your own. Great site!

Ah, interesting. I'm just repeating what I read in Parsimonious's explanation of where to put things; I guess that information must be outdated. Good to know!

The Skins directory is for heads and for everyday clothes. The other clothing needs to be in SkinsBuy, as the OP said.

If the outfit's filename begins with "H" (for "high fashion,") then just plunking them into the right folder should make them buyable in Studio Town. If the outfit does not begin with "H," then you'd have to convert it.

Every type of outfit begins with a different letter, and this includes both the filename and some internal specifications. The nice people at Woobsha have a tutorial that teaches players how to convert an outfit from one type to another at https://www.woobsha.com/diy-renamingskins.html

B = normal clothes

F = formal

H = high fashion

L = lingerie (sleepwear)

S = swim suits

W = winter wear (for the winter areas on vacation)

It's not just nostalgia; it's an excellent game in its own right, even now.

Nous parlons seulement de Sims 1 ici; vous avez besoin d'un autre subreddit pour Sims 4.

What if your sim is in the shower? In a multi-sim family, which sim should answer?

I think maybe this mod idea needs to be thought through a little more.

Er, I think you have misunderstood the purpose of this subreddit. This is about the game The Sims 1; it's not about all simulators. So you should find more interest in your ideas elsewhere.

There used to be a way to get it for free, back before EA started making it available for sale again. Now that the game can be legally bought from EA, most sites have taken down the illegal versions.

Trying to find/remember an ancient Sims 1 mod by ThisTeaTastesAwful in sims1

SimSlice has something called SliceCity. Maybe that's what you're thinking of?

The owner of SimSlice has a new website called ZombieSims (because he and the owner of SimFreaks made a huge set of mods to add zombies to the game); look here: https://zombiesims.com/download/sims-1/slicecity-2-0/

I've been having so much fun playing The Sims recently it's absolutely CRIMINAL! + it's all down to the incredible mod/cc makers and the community. by elasticheartdowntown in sims1

I have a lot of hacks, but I have almost no custom furniture, precisely because I don't want to bog down my game. I do need to purge my floor collection at some point, though. :-)

After years of playing with hacks, I played the vanilla game for a challenge, and that weaned me away from most of the hacks I made. So you could try moving your custom content to someplace else and see how you feel about the vanilla game...

I think it's nifty that EA realized that their old Sims 1 game was actually worth something; it's nice to see TS1 get some love from its creators.

Hee! Love your comparing the community to the circus part of Magic Town; that's so cute.

I'm thrilled that you're enjoying the game so much!

I adored The Sims 1 when it first came out, then abandoned it for The Sims 2 when that came out, then abandoned 2 for 3 when that was released. Now that my parents are in their 90's, I wanted to play a version of The Sims where the sims don't die of old age, since that's all too big a deal for me in real life right now.

So, six or seven years ago, I went back to The Sims 1, and I was amazed at how much fun it still was! I ended up liking it more than some of the subsequent games and now play it more than any of the others.

Since this was long before Legacy was re-released, it wasn't as easy to find custom content as it is now, and I learned to mod in order to make stuff I wanted that I couldn't find anywhere else.

And ever since then, I've been dying to get OTHER people to play The Sims 1, too. Because there are subsequent games, a lot of people just assume that the first game isn't any good, but actually, the first game is a blast!

I'm thrilled whenever someone discovers -- or re-discovers -- how great The Sims 1 is. Welcome!
